recently bought this game and was wondering if it's ok to run at high settings with 720p resolution

I run almost everything on ultra with only shadows on low. Using a 2080 and running the game at 1440p resolution i get between 90-105 fps. The shadows setting was sucking my pc dry and was only at around 50-60 fps with shadows on ultra.

In general in such cases, I would limit FPS to 60 or even 30, keep an eye on the temperatures, hardware usage and see how it runs and how I like it. How well the game runs and how comfortable your system is with it depends on your other hardware as well, not just the GPU. The CPU and RAM also matter, for example.

On a personal note, why would you prefer 100FPS (that your eye can't see) over shadow quality (that you can see)? In a game like this, not a competitive shooter, I do not quite understand the reasoning here. I would like to, though. Maybe you can explain?

Sure i'll try to explain, i can very easily tell that the game doesn't run smooth at 60 fps(at least not on my setup). While it's true what you're saying about the eyes can't see that much, it is still a good indicator about how smooth your pc runs a game. While it's different from game to game how smooth a game will run fps wise, at lets say 100 fps, it's generally best to go for at least a 100 fps and ofc as much fps as possible. I've played games that runs completely fine at 70 fps, but i've also played games that felt laggy at 100 fps (such as PUBG for example). It's always a balance between graphics looking the best and the game running smooth and the fps helps in determing that. Hope this helps or feel free to ask, if there's something you don't understand in my explanation (english is not my main language). :)

you can see way more than 30 fps. not while you are enjoying the view, but when you turn around.
Depending on your setup i would suggest to use the max framerate from your monitor.
i suggest 60 - 144 Hz, and the resolution from your monitor.
then tweak the settings to your liking.

and maybe you want to change your settings in summer, because you dont want your pc to heat up your home even more.

Hello there,

short answer: No, they aren't.

long answer: No, they aren't because you are running on a 6GB "new gen" GPU and a quite good CPU (I got i7-7700K and it works perfectly). I am still curious what else specs your PC has - like RAM and if you boot the game from an HDD or SSD.

You've mentioned 300 FPS games. Yes, those exist - CS:GO, Valorant or other games usually are optimized to have those high FPS and you can easily reach them with your setup. But then you have to play on the lowest settings (as I do) and are able to hit it consistently. For Medieval Dynasty it is not necessary to have high FPS and therefore don't have to panic if it is barely hitting 100 FPS.

Best regards,

Urgs... So game and hardware dependent.

I really want to see those people trying to run 300 FPS on full settings + RTX in RDR2's new Orleans (forgot the actual name) for example. That being said, you also don't need that many FPS, unless you play the game as a competitive shooter.

But yeah, in general terms, a PC is very likely to get better results than a console. Unless it's a console sized PC, those are... yeah no comment.
