Villager assigned to woodshed doesn’t gather?

Hello, my problem is I assigned my one and only villager to my woodshed but she just walks to the woodshed and stands still, doing nothing. There are trees all around and I have placed stone axes in building’s chest inventory. Some logs mysteriously appear at woodshed but I can’t grab them or interact with them. I haven’t tried villagers with my other buildings (barn,hunters lodge) but why isn’t this working?? Is this game really that bugged out? Any help would be appreciated have been quite enjoying this game so far but I’m puzzled at this stage.

Have you set up the production for her in the management menu? This is easy to overlook and you need to do it for all of your workers, so they know what to gather or craft for you.

The logs you see in the woodshed merely are decoration. They appear as soon as something is in the chest. Everything that your NPCs produce spawns in the chests of the resource storage or the food storage. It only ends up in the chests of their workplaces when the storages are full.
