villagers level up: how exactly?
(Deutsch siehe unten)
current version: 0.6.0.5

Hey guys
Sorry, if someone else already asked that question, but so far I just can't find any relevant answer.

What are the mecanics behind villagers leveling up?

my woodcutter needs like 3-4 years to get from level 3 to level 4 while my store keeper (market stall) got to level 10 in just about 1 year. Why is that?
(Both were doing the same job the whole time.)

Hallo Leute

Each task for the workers has an amount of exp associated to it but it isn't anywhere close to balanced so some professions level up very quickly while some seem to never level up even after 10 years.

We don't know the exact amounts but store keepers and hunters seem to level up the fastest while gatherers and fishers don't even seem to level up.

Thanks, Fel. That is my experiance as well: store keepers level up the fastest, hunters are next - though already signifficantly slower.

My field workers have also gained experience pretty well.

Crafters in the sewing shed seem to level pretty fast. I swapped my innkeeper and sewer around in early game. Once my sewer was higher than my innkeeper I swapped them again. You will reach a point where keeping the innkeeper at the inn is better but it definitely is better once you get Tavern II and can have 2 innkeepers.

So aparently villagers level faster, when they craft higher level items. eg the innceeper gains levelups faster by baking 2 bread per day rather than roasting 30 meat.
And they level faster, if more than one villager is emploied in one building because they all get the full xp from that building.
That's all I found out so far.

Lol the exp in this game seems odd to say the least. I have had the same 2 people working in 2 Excavation sheds and they are still on 3 skill after 10 years. Where as the 4 people in the mine are already 7 skill and I've had the mine barely 2 years. Also Gatherers just flat dont seem to ever get skill points I have had the same guy in my survival hut since the start and hes never gone up from 3 ever.

Yeah the problem is that the more complicated the task an NPC does the more skill points per item they get. This is really terrible for people like gatherers who have on one thing they can do and it is a very low level skill.

It's basically a good idea for most professions but really falls short for people like gatherers. For such professions rather than giving the lowest (or one of the lowest) xp gained per task I think they should have given, and should give, them something in the middle of the range (whatever that range is). For example IF the xp/task range is 0.1 - 1.0 then a something around 0.4 would seem more fitting for gatherers.
