new villager problem
New villagers won't travel to my village and it says they are homeless, even though I have a new house for him. I have slept, traveled to them, interacted with them and they just stay in the same spot until they abandon me

did you allocate them to the spare house in the management screen? it is not automatic, except when you manage to get a wife.

Like richardmgoldsmith says: Have you assigned your new villager to the new house you have for him/her? Also keep in mind that no other villager can live in your own house, only your wife. Plus, every house is for one man and one woman. Two women or two men cannot share the same house and the rest of the beds are for children.

There are some things (glitches?) about the new villagers' travel and work that confuse me too. I am at the end of the second year, winter. My first playthrough, playing with 7 days per season. Managed to convince 2 more people to migrate to my village (8 total, so far). But, unlike the ones before them, they won't move from the last known position.

I got them housing and workplaces from the management screen, and, according to that, they are OK with it. But they just sit in the middle of nowhere until i go back to them and stay nearby while travelling to my village. Did that with one of them, after a 2 days wait (found the guy right where the map was showing him) and the babysitting worked. The other one decided to go for a swim and she is still stuck in the middle of the lake. Went to her, she had the clothes on, so I departed disappointed. Another day went by, and the map shows her still in the water, where I left her.

Another thing (glitch?): even after reaching their destination, they don't seem to care much about their jobs. i have 2 woodsheds, set 50/50 logs/firewood. Still, I must do the job myself, otherwise the mood goes down for the lack of wood. I can get the villagers hundreds of units firewood a day in the storage, but 2 workers cannot deal with the issue? At night everybody starts suffering from exposure, no wood unless i take care of that myself. I built the woodcutters in the middle of the forest, not exactly close to the villagers' homes. But i built them roads, so I don't want to hear complaints, better shut their mouths and get to work, I travel the entire map for their well-being,

Thanks for the responses. I was able to assign a house to 1 new villager.

I can't assign another person to that house. So she's homeless.

However now another problem has arisen, everyone's hungry and there is food in the food storage building.

Not sure if there is suppose to be a chest in there?

Seems like a lot of bugs regarding villagers. buggy in general

If your first villager was female then no, you can’t assign another female to the same house.

I recommend ordering your lumberjacks to produce 100% logs and just chopping firewood yourself. Crafting everything is extremely slow in the game and in need of some serious re-balancing.

What food do you have in your food storage? Even though berries and mushrooms can be consumed and count as “food”, I never hire anyone until I can cook at least meat with gravy (have 30-40 in storage when start hiring) and usually switch to potage as soon as possible.
I never had any problems with hungry settlers because I cook myself.

I collected over 70 chunks of meat, but they wouldn't cook it themselves, i had to roast it for them at a fire^^

I have roasted meat, stew, berries, shrooms, flat bread

"If your first villager was female then no, you can’t assign another female to the same house."

So only 1 female and 2 males per house? room for 3 right?

No only 2 of opposite sex 3rd is for child

You can house one family per house, one woman, one man. The rest of the slots (1 or 2 for more advanced houses) are for their children. You cannot house several women or several men together.
