Frequent Crashing
I'm just now getting to my first winter, about 7 hours into the game as a whole, and I can't progress because my game consistently crashes while I am travelling from town to town. Additionally, my frame rate dropped by about 30fps when winter rolled around. currently running an i9 and 2070 Super, so I'm fairly certain it's not a hardware issue.

Interesting. Mine is running fine at that same time point. Maybe you're trying to use jet fuel on a passenger van?

WHat's your ingame settings at? Graphics wise that is.

How much RAM do you have and have you checked that the chips are ok? Keep an eye on the temperatures and mind other things running in the background that could be too demanding or cause conflicts. Clear your caches and temporary folders, too.

Additionally, if the game crashes, take a look at MD's crash logs and Event Viewer. See, what they can tell you.
I'm not sure if you have try this or not, if you have overclock your GPU manually, it should be fine if come from factory overclock. I mention this just in case.

I had everything set to ultra, playing at 3840x1080. I was running at 80 fps in fall, but when winter rolled around, I have been having issues.

I have 16gb ram, and it was never over 60% usage according to my logs. CPU temp is low 50's and gpu is staying under 80, which is well within operating temps. I didn't think to check the event viewer. I'll take a look at that.

Like RZG hinted at, overclocking can be a problem and sometimes slightly underclocking can help prevent crashes, too. But maybe Even Viewer can give us a better hint.

That's really high settings. It might just be that winter is too much for those settings *shrug* Even top of the line compies have their limits. Sounds like you've found yours. I would try lowering resolution to start with and/or the frame rate. If that isn't enough then I'd recommend going to medium settings to see if that makes a difference.

You gotta reember the game is still in development too so ultra might just not be refined yet.

Unfortunately, the event log doesn't reveal much other than stating that MD is the application at fault. Module path is listed as unknown.

I'm not mad about the crashes, or that it's early access. I just wanted to ask in case others were having the same issue, or maybe that my question would reveal a potential issue to the devs. Now that I've learned a little about the game, I'm having a lot of fun, I would just like for it to stay running so I can spend too much time in it lol.

Are you running anything in the background? I have had my game crash two times. Both times I was tabbed out and watching videos on youtube/facebook when the crashes occured.

Just NZXT Cam to set the pump speed on my AIO. Other than that, no web browsers or anything else that would cause any issues.

Can you check Resmon (type it in Win search) and check the processes there? Resmon should yield more information than task manager.

I suspect there might be an temperature issue.
Besides your CPU and GPU seem to be fine, as you say, I'd suggest you to download HwInfo64 and let it run while playing. Keep an eye on the temperatures. Aside from CPU and GPU there still are other components that can suffer from heating when running the system with high load, such as mainboard voltage converter as an example.
None of us can know how good the airflow in your PC case really is. It might be possible that components like mainboard voltage converter simply become too hot and your system shuts down because of that.
Another suspicion of mine is your PSU. With high system load it can be possible that your system lowers some component's frequency or even might cause shutdowns.

Maybe you check this?

Temps are fine on my system across the board, and this is the only game that’s having issues. I may do a reinstall and see if that helps. Max allocation on RAM was 24% at my most recent crash, which happened at the main menu. I’m lost at this point.
