WHat's your ingame settings at? Graphics wise that is.
Additionally, if the game crashes, take a look at MD's crash logs and Event Viewer. See, what they can tell you.
I have 16gb ram, and it was never over 60% usage according to my logs. CPU temp is low 50's and gpu is staying under 80, which is well within operating temps. I didn't think to check the event viewer. I'll take a look at that.
That's really high settings. It might just be that winter is too much for those settings *shrug* Even top of the line compies have their limits. Sounds like you've found yours. I would try lowering resolution to start with and/or the frame rate. If that isn't enough then I'd recommend going to medium settings to see if that makes a difference.
You gotta reember the game is still in development too so ultra might just not be refined yet.
Besides your CPU and GPU seem to be fine, as you say, I'd suggest you to download HwInfo64 and let it run while playing. Keep an eye on the temperatures. Aside from CPU and GPU there still are other components that can suffer from heating when running the system with high load, such as mainboard voltage converter as an example.
None of us can know how good the airflow in your PC case really is. It might be possible that components like mainboard voltage converter simply become too hot and your system shuts down because of that.
Another suspicion of mine is your PSU. With high system load it can be possible that your system lowers some component's frequency or even might cause shutdowns.
