Fertilizer logistics
Manure is picked up by Farmer who makes Fertilizer and stores it to general storage.

My farmers are unable to pick up Fertilizers from general storage, it needs to be manually transferred to Barn by me.

Is there a way to automate this????

They should take it from the resource storage without problems. Fertilizer from the resource storage, seeds from the food storage. Are you playing on an older save and/or have you used any third party program to edit settings?

Fresh start based on latest version. No editing of course, that would make the game 100% pointless.

You would be surprised how many people do that. It makes bug hunting more difficult for us, if we don't know. Hence the question. Thanks. :)

Probably it is too late for this save though as the land has already been 'done' till next season. I will try it again next season and get back to you with a better save file.

Update. Here is what i did, around 7:30am i made sure there was 30 fertilizer in general storage, and 30 flax grain in food storage. Assigned 30 flax nodes in a nearby field. Worker moved to barn and just stand at the storage chest doing nothing. Then, I quicksaved and reloaded and voila, it started to walk to the field and started fertilizing. So, it seems it works somehow, but it needs a 'reload' to trigger on the AI scripts...

Did you assign the NPC for field working just in the morning when you wanted him to start working on the field, actually?
I noticed that they tend to refuse working if you do this.
I also noticed that there is most probably no problem at all, if you assign NPCs for field working in the evening before they should start working on the field.
Would be interesting to know how you did it.

No, the NPC has already been assigned as field worker for several seasons in fact.

Managed again to get it stuck until reload. This time, i assigned 6 more flax units quite in the late hours. The worker put the fertilizer on, but due to late hours it didn't do the additional plowing, just went to bed instead. Next morning just stood in the barn waiting, so around 9am i decided to save/load and voila, it started to walk to the field to plow the fertilized ground and seed it afterwards.

Strange.
Maybe I'm just lucky because none of this ever happened to me.
Many players report having trouble with field workers, though, so of course there seems to be a problem. But for whatever reasons I only run into such problems if I change jobs for NPCs while they already should've started with field work.

As a suggestion, the fertilized ground could last 2-3 harvests.

I thought the latest patch said field workers would check for any other work every 30 seconds. Did I misread that?

edit: From 0.3.0.2 updated section

Field Workers that keep waiting for the next tasks, are checking the field for these tasks every 30 seconds now.

Ok could this new "check every 30 secs" be what is causing the waste of fertilizer and seeds?

Good question. If 3 workers see a field needs 10 fertilizer and 10 seeds and all three take ten of each to complete the field then only ten of each will actually be used. Do the other workers return their left over fertilizer and seed back to storage or is it (20 fertilizer and seed) lost? Maybe someone else knows if the coding accounted for this.
