I've gone through 2 playthroughs and each time i hate how my village looks, the layout is trash and i cant seem to get it right, are there any guides or tips for village layouts.

What do you mean by "get it right"? What's so bad about how you've done it so far?

When i build my village and build more and more buildings it just looks like a mess. Especially with the new features such as lightning and making a nice campfire with some benches. i am not satisfied and my village just doesn't look like a good community. it is a mess with random placed buildings.

so i was wondering if someone has a good map or layout so i can get some inspiration

Maybe take a look at the screenshots people upload? Many show their villages. There could be some inspiration there.
so in the spirit of a medieval life sim, keep in mind that villages tended to grow oddly over time. they tacked a building on or tore one down as the village needed. especially in that time period. I can tell you it is very obvious the footprints of meandering medieval villages when you drive in europe even today as opposed to say in the US, where there isnt the depth of history to towns.

that said, you CAN certainly build as you want, but knowing all the buildings and how they interact will give you a starting reference. I personally like to discover this myself over time (part of my enjoyment in playing) that as I start over, my village layouts tend to get more efficient.

HOWEVER other than total min/maxing there doesnt seem to be a lot of benefit as yet to efficient placement. for instance, you could place your barn close to fields, makes sense. but other than maybe having to walk a little farther, there doesnt seem to be a lot of benefit.

I saw some pics of other village layouts by others and thought they were hideous, but that was just me. preference seems to be very subjective.

guide I used was finding a flat spot for the village, having Resource buildings and farms/crafting buildings close together ,having the Tavern in the middle and houses surround the Tavern put hunting and lumber out alone in the forest ,can put the livestock buildings in one area

I think villages may look better if we could make paths and/or roads. Unless you build your town along the games road - I agree that building out in fields - even if they are aligned - look like ghost town with all the vegetation around. I have been doing the farm field roads and that sort of looks ok but you cant intersect them, so its a bandaid fix.
so if we have a wish list....mine would be to minimize manually drawn roads, and actually build in a "wear" mechanism. so as people travel over paths, grass slowly wears to dirt over time (the game Foundation does this and I found it kinda cool), but if not that, then planned roads and paths are fine:)

i totally agree, i am building my village in the middle of nowhere at the lake. i dont want to use the roads that are already there since it kinda forces you to build a certain way.

i would love to see a mechanic to build our own paths :)

Of course night is falling and it's suddenly foggy when I want to take a screenshot of my village ...

I really like the existing paths in that spot, but I know where I would put more if we could do that.

i try but then the routes that the fields want to go are completly differant to the way i have placed my buildings. To remove a building you LOSE everything you have used even if it was to place it, you should at least get everything back from placing it (when not upgrading or starting to build) just so you can place it where and how you want, but to lose everything is a nightmare.

I mean you can place buildings down but when it comes to placing your field area you have no option on the angle of which they go, unlike buildings, yes some will say start with plotting out the fields but that does not fix the issue

First thing I do is lay down a couple of 1x16 fields and then a couple more 16x1 to intersect the other ones, with the intersection being my center of town. These fields act as paths.

In one quadrant I build my houses, somewhat in a circle facing inward, and I have my campfire and benches in the middle of the houses (all of the houses face the campfire).

I put my Barn, Storage, and Food Storage on the other 3 corners of the intersection, with farmland and animal buildings going out from there. Craft buildings go along the path across from the houses. My Tavern is along a main road beside the river.

Some tips, the compass on screen heading can use for positioning.

All my building laid basing on the direction showed on compass, some building facing North: some facing South. It is more easy to arrange your building to fulfill your planning.

May this skill can useful for you.

I was going to layout my village like the towns in Kingdom Come Deliverence.
