Why do people work at night instead of sleeping?
I'm genuinely curious.

I have two or three gamers that I watch on youtube daily playing this game in German. Many, many times they have to walk around with a torch so that people watching the video can see something and the screen isn't completely dark.

When you are in your village, why not sleep and continue the next morning without a torch? When you are not at home, why not collect 16 sticks, build a campfire and continue the next morning? Why is there such a rush? For the sidequests that give you a few reputation points?

I mean, sleeping doesn't last long. Maybe 4 seconds or 5, and you have daylight again. What do those who work at night think they gain when they work at night? And why do livestreamers videos working at night instead of sleeping and have daylight for their videos?

Or is it just wanting to get something finished and to not want to spend 4 seconds of night until finishing during daylight?

I'm looking forward to the motivations of the night workers :)

Thank you :) I already assumed it might have to do with the side quests.

Early in this game, time is everything

There are not many ways to make money in the early stage. In order to pay taxes, you can only keep picking berries while developing the village.

So now that I'm on year 18 and essentially doing whatever I can to speed through the seasons, I'd probably just let the days pass and not frantically work without sleeping.

I know in the beginning people feel like there's an immense time pressure to do everything. Once you more into the game, you realize that time is just an illusion. There's no limit. You have all the time in the world if you're comfortable just letting the seasons and years roll on.

I use the night when I cannot finish the day. There are no consequences, Racimir never gets tired. That is why there is actually enough time.I only sleep when I want to skipp. So when I have nothing more to do and need the next season

A few words to where I'm coming from. I have 3 playthroughs. Gave up on the first in year 8, that was when they patched the Dynasty Reputation but didn't do it retrospectively. I had 800 points and each side quest would only give you 5 points maximum, so I put this game to rest. I never worked a single night and always paid my taxes.

My second playthrough is now above year 20. I never worked at night. I got almost all my reputation from the main quests, and I put my skills on gaining more reputation when I do side quests. So I took only those that were easy or fun and I had no stress at all. I put this playthrough to rest also, until the next update comes, as I had nothing to do anymore. I never worked at night.

My third playthrough is in year 7, I am currently playing that one because I haven't yet unlocked everything. In this playthrough I had tons of money from the very beginning, and I don't even know how it happened. I just collected berries in the first year whenever I came across them, and in winter I crafted stone knives. First thing I did was buying an iron axe, so logging wasn't an issue, and the building spot is close to Lesnica and Rolnica. I never ever worked at night and I always had plenty of money. In this playthrough I already had reached the building limit in year 6.

I never ever cook myself and still there's plenty of food, and I don't ever convert logs to firewood since the patch where you can tell the lumberjack what he should deliver.

I am just lazy, I like gaming to be fun and stress free, and I am looking forward for things to become a bit more challenging (like having to produce fertilizer, seeds and tools for the farmers etc.) If I stay up too long (in game) I feel uncomfortable, Racimir needs his sleep, doesn't he? :)

The day is divided into 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. I mainly use part of the night to craft or some such thing and part of the night to sleep. Except for night hunts.

Night time offers less traffic and it's quiet and peaceful ... :)

Have you tried farming during the day?

I chased a pig with my cudgel one day, into a house! It would always park it's fat butt in the fields. Spanking pigs doesn't happen at night ... :P
