woolly milkcap?

currently have a journal quest to gather mushrooms, to make a cure soup but i cannot find a single milkcap even though i have spent about an hour looking... am i blind and missing it or is there a specific location/time to find them? i even went so far as to look it up online for help in identifying what it looks like but still cant find it. first year, autumn.

It would be best to gather a few during spring & summer and save them for any "Out of Season" quests you may get. The same applies to Berries, (both Ripe & Unripe) seems them types of quests can spawn out of season as well.

They are around in autumn. However, they look very similar to another type of mushroom (just forgot the name) and are therefore easy to miss.

Morels only grow in spring. All other mushrooms grow in autumn.

They look like red pine mushrooms and if you see several growing together that would be red pine ones. But if you see only one mushroom, maybe two, then it is most probably wooly milkcap.
I just went and found 8 of them within 2 minutes.

If you set an npc (if you have one you can use) to gather at the hunting lodge (if you have one)
you will get all sorts of different ones for in the future anyway.
