Can not get Wife to have 2nd child
I have a population of 47 (23 kids), 13 large houses and everyone is happy. Every morning I talk to my wife to see if there is an option to have a second baby but never shows up. All the other females have had 2 children. Am I stuck with only one child?

You can only have one child. NPCs can have two.

The only exception is when you pair your heir with a wife before taking over playing him. Still being an NPC he can have two children, but you can still only have the first as his heir.

Again: The player controlled character can currently only have one child.

ooh! That's a nice tip - thanks! In 3 games started the longest I played was until my heir was 10, so I haven't reached that point yet. Now I know to wait until he has two kids before I take over.

Lailantie was the first to discover this, if I remember it right. ;)

This is the correct answer.

Interesting. So there is a work around to have more than one child.

Why not make only the first child heir, and all the rest ordinary citizens? Maybe my second son will be the head of the warehouse) Or a daughter is someone else's wife, uncles-aunts. Sims 3D with personal avatar

Actually it was my husband. He started one playthrough and stuck with it with incredible patience, so he reached the point when his son was 18, had no houses left, and after a while put him together with a female worker in a four bed house. They got two kids.

How long does it take for children to show up? Going on my second year with everyone paired up.

First they become a couple (you can see that in the management menu), then they have children. If and how soon that happens depends on how close they are in age and how old they are.

I have 3 NPCs that have had 3 kids each, after all the good jobs are gone.......they are all going to be farmers, I have one building left for moving, but looks like it may be for another barn for 12 workers, just a tip......dont go making all your homes 4 person they fill up quick and you have kids all over the streets lol, I FN love this game.

should be two years after the pairing has been done, but make sure their mood is up if its too low they wont have a kid. just make sure their doing jobs that they are good at it increases their mood exponentially.
