Pathway needs to be wide enough and unobstructed for the future mounts/horses and wagons.
Roads and paths can be scripted, along the lines of a crop field - and the materials used to make the paths = crushed rock or rock chippings from the mining buildings - BUT - the devs are looking into roads/paths for a later patch
We the players, should build the houses with enough room in front to have the chairs, tables and other furniture.
Sometimes I wish for some kind of snapping. As long as we could change the distances, it would be nice.
I keep hoping they will add other types later, maybe that you can unlock, like starting with dirt paths, moving to gravel-roads, and then paved streets.
But as of now, I think the gravel road is the only option.
As you wanted to be helpful and don't seem to have questions on this topic, i'm locking the thread to prevent further confusion.
