Long bow vs Recurve Bow.
Long bow has more damage and shoots straighter but longer draw than recurve.
Recurve bow less damage, shorter range but faster draw.
in the game recurve bow is fast but very short range, but recurve as far as I know is better than Long bow in real world that is, with both more kinetic force generated from pull and accuracy.
and when recurve bow is the higher crafting item than long bow it should really be the best bow.

I was so excited when I crafted my first Recurve Bow - I tried it out and oh man my heart sank.....

Longbow > Recurve any time of the day - and if you get the archery skills (Lock and Load) it's an unstoppable machine of death!

I made my first composite bow, went hunting and immediately went to sell it. It's worth ... Short range, bad ballistics. A long bow is much better and balances a longer stretching time with accuracy and range. The composite bow is a disappointment to me.

The bows need work, but they want to keep it balanced now.

honestly I use the longbow for most hunting jobs but I keep the recurve handy for when I get a couple wolves on my butt. The faster drawing of the recurve makes wolf hunting much eaier when they start chasing you because you miss the shot or when they have 3 of them in close proximity to each other
Hello. I also use the Longbow. Once i found out you could buy and make the longbow, it was a big difference from the regular bow. Still have not use the recurve, its in the chest. do keep some spare stone arrows for rabbits. but mostly use iron arrows. have been trying out the crossbow.

and i do keep melee weapon handy too for those wolves lol.

Spears are the best, only use bows for rabbits and fox.

I gave up on spears when they were 3 shots each ... I see they've fixed them now, but I got good with bow already.

Iron arrows with long bow should one shot a deer/wolf/boar if its a head shot
even with the extra hp, bison headshot, it turns, approaches slowly, 1-2 more arrows before it gets close ... (I've not gone looking for a bear since more hp)

is this a bug, or an oversight? 0.1.2.4 says:
Recurve Bow damage reduced from 50 to 45.
Longbow damage increased from 45 to 55.

but you unlock long bow at 500 hunting points for 500 gold
you unlock the recurve bow at 2500 points for 1500 gold.

why would i spent 1500 gold to get a worse bow?

Only if the Longbow and the recurve have the same draw weight.
A 40 pound recurve bow is not more powerfull than a 120 pound war bow

Correct.

Recurve bow can fire rapidly which is useful on a charging wolf or a bunch of them, Only has a shorter range. Each hit stuns lock the target so it is good for hammering a close wolf or boar to death quickly.

I use the recurve bow. I sneak closer so that I am always close enough and I like the zoom when you aim, so you (even me, ha!) can shoot quite precisely. I killed wolves with the recurve bow, one headshot, as well as boars. I just killed a bear with four headshots. The longbow takes too much stamina and I miss the target too often.
