How to move ONE villager to another house?
Not a family, just one. I want a villager to be moved into the house closer to the mine but the game moves the other room mate too, together.

Inhabitants of a house are moved as a group, if these already got married. Until then you can move them separately, after marriage the only option is to move the whole family. You can't change that.
Another question is why you would even try to move that one guy closer to the mine, since this isn't necessary at all. The miner don't need to live close to the mine, because production already starts in the very moment when he leaves his house and makes his way towards the mine. So there is no need to build a house there.

I bet they are. Otherwise he would be able to move them each to their own house. :)

If you open the managemant menu and select any person there, you'll see a detailed description on the right side. There you can also see if he / she has a family, since all family members are also listed there. There is in fact quite a lot information shown in the management menu. :)

I've been trying to figure this out as well. I have a house with two men and a house with 2 women and I'm trying to switch so there is 1 man/1 woman in each house, but they always move together and just switch houses. When I use the "remove' button, it deletes their job rather than kicks them out of the house.

For me, it's primarily for aesthetics. I like to try and have my farmers live near the fields, my miners live near the mines, etc. Is it "necessary" for some jobs? Not really. Though for farming, they don't start working until they reach the fields, so having them live closer IS an advantage.

I had this problem, so I knew they couldn't really be a family even though the game appeared to be treating them as such.

Eventually I solved it by building another house or two. For some reason spare capacity seems to correct villager behaviour to work as expected.

Just...

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR!!!

Now I've got like 7 kids running around and I'm fairly certain my villagers aren't done yet :p

What you can do is remove one wall from each house, that way the inhabitants will be marked as homeless. Then just rebuild the walls and assign them back to whatever house you like. Note I haven't tested this.

This old thread is from almost 3 years ago by now. No need to answer anymore.
