How do I plow fields?
No matter how long I hold down left click with my hoe, nothing happens. How do I solve this?

did you place fertilizer on the plots first?

Needs to be fertilised before it can be plowed. Seems being a farmer is not a prerequisite to being a video game developer any more.

When you start a field.
#1 setup a field size
#2 use hoe to clear the grasses
#3 pour fertilizer on the field
#3 use hoe to mix the fertilizer
#4 plant seed

If you have a worker, he will do all this for you for free without any tools for items when you assign him to the field job.

Either using your hoe or your hoes.

You have to make sure you have the section highlighted you should see "ungrubbed" something for brand new plots or some other text to indicate what to do when pointing your reticle at it. That text has to be visible for the plowing to "count"

So how do I get fertilizer if I don't have any pigs?

You let food spoil, wait another season until turns into rot, go to the barn and craft it into fertilizer.

To grow food you need fertiliser.
To craft fertiliser you need food.
Simple as 12C and AB3.
Tazmo Oct 12, 2020 @ 11:10pm
You can buy it from the cow guy.

Berries spoil and turn into rot as well. And, like Tazmo has pointed out, fertilizer can also be bought from various traders, including one in the starter villager.
