Medieval Dynasty

Medieval Dynasty

View Stats:
Realistic/Harcore mode
Game is set to 30 days per season, hunger and thirst is balanced accordingly,
more realistic number of resources needed for buildings, e.g. 50 logs for a house, 100 nails, 20 flax weaving, 50 mortar, 30 sticks, Shingles, bits of iron, etc.
A stone hatchet would need processed stone, flax weaving, and a wooden handle
villagers eat once per day, and thier hunger hunger level drops over the course of the day
villagers can work larger fields, but food goes completely rotten after 1 season unless stored/preserved.
River water needs to be boiled.
HP is harder to restore
Sleep is REQUIRED every night, if not sleep then player passes out randomly the next day
If player passes out in a town some money/belongings is lost
You recieve MUCH less money for items sold.
Trees/plants grow back once per year.
Villagers can refuse to work unless well fed
villagers require wages
villagers and wife are much harder to chat up
Coins have weight
Anything else?

I think that would be WAY to grindy. Plus I don't think they used nails. The villagers are living in a house you provided they wouldn't get a wage. And a villager to refuse to work would get kicked out and starve if they weren't killed outright. Just too much of your suggestion doesn't fit the time period.

That would make no sense, its a city builder and not a survival game.

The default game IS a survival game

How would you make the game more realistic to the time period?

Well, what people did in the Middle Ages, drinking beer and wine, raising honey bees, picking flowers, getting married, building a couple of houses, exploring insects ...

i suspect your perception of what early medieval life was like, is a bit off

Just start a custom game on like 5 for everything and you will find hardcore! My current is 3 taxes, 5 on npc wood and food consumption and 5 on animalHP and it is a grind just to keep wood and kill some animals.

OK King DaMuncha, I am on your side. Lets find out a good system of balancing. Lets contact the devs to get clear the main goals of the periods in the game. After that we can calculate everything, crafting, farming, ware desires and prices and so on.
How many hours of your time can you effort to do this in the next weeks?
I guess if both of us bring in 20 hours per week within the next 3 month we can find out a proper solution for the balancing issue.
Do you agree???

For a hardcore mode? I'll let the devs take care of that. I cant wait till this game gets modding support.

If you let the devs take care of this your initial post is pointless.
...
or to use the german expression
Chantal, heul leise!
But 30 days makes the game not harder. 1 day is harder then 30. So you have just one day for your fields, one day for your quests and just 4 to earn money for the taxes and less time to build.

30 days is relaxing...

The original post was a suggestion for the addition of a Hardcore mode, with more realistic balancing seperate from the main Normal mode with its over simplified gameplay.

The real hardcore mode is every worker need tool to work.

use more woodcutter...you have 90 days before winter. That is over 7 years in normal play. So at this point you should have enough villagers working for you and enough time for wood and food.
