Good, I'm glad you got that off your chest. It didn't need all the rest of that preaching.
Right now it's more or less impossible to die in this game. The game pauses if you enter inventory and there you just have to eat a few herbs and you have full health again. Herbs are by the way to easy to find, you can get hundreds if them in a few minutes.
As bears and wolfs are right now they might as well remove them. I know we will get barbarians later on and I really hope they can be a challenge.
For experienced players I totally understand that the animals are not a challenge. Some people are not experienced and some just don't want this kind of challenge in a game.
Personally I have been killed by wolves and bears many times in the beginning, and no, I'm not an experienced hunter in games and I don't like it very much. I just started a new game, didn't change much of the settings but reduced animal LP half and I play with totally no animal damage.
It is great that these settings are possible so that everyone can play the way they enjoy it.
Make the game great again!
Guess why the devs made wolves so aggressive they even invade houses to kill people there?
Think about this and at the same time analyse the existing contents of this game ;-)
Here comes the secret:
Most probably in 02/2021, Little Red Riding Hood will be introduced.
Therefore wolves entering houses and killing people are required!
(Note: To rescue her with a cut of a knife from the wolve's belly it's strongly advised you do this yourself - when you send one of your craftsmen to do this, she would die from old age before he will manage to do this.)
But I must admit I'm not quite sure yet about the purpose of those killer foxes in this game?
wolves are there as challange for early game, long before you have bows, im talking about the time as early as where you have to go out looking for berries just to survive.
And its far from impossible to die, again, early game (from poisoning, to wolves, to cold weather, everything kills you). and yes, later in the game there is no longer a challange as far as life, but then again, it is what it was like. an established peasant could live his life to its full without any fear of wolves.
during medieval era peasants died from a lot of things, wolves were not one of them
you had desieses, wars, raiders, ocasional starvation, thats pretty much it
before medieval era, during early bronze age, wolves indeed were a big issue for common folks, but with the intreduction of iron and advanced weapons such as bows, wolves became irrelevant
You tried eating mushrooms before you tested out the herbs? Even if you do get poisoned for some reason it just takes seconds to remove. Again game pauses when you enter inventory and all you need is a few of each herb in your inventory and you will never die, never. The herbs are everywhere and you can easy get thousands of them in a day, except for the winter but i never seen the spoil so you can keep some in your chat at all times.
Dying from cold weather? As soon as you do the "build your home" question you will get enough fur cloth to make it in cold weather.
This is about surviving and starting a linage in medieval times, it suppose to be hard from every aspect of life. Right now you can kill even bears with wooden spears if you do things right. That is not something that I would recommend but you can and is just wrong. Wolfs are something that should threaten the village, come and raid the farm animals at night and so on. Bears are something you don't want to go close, not even with a bow unless there is several hunters working together.
I stad by that the game in its current state a way to easy for medieval times.
Actually a really good slider. Have it ser on Animal damage a *5 and HP at *8 and its to extreme setting for "normal" game but *1 to way to easy. Game is still early access so no one (not even me :)) should complain to much but healing in the game is actually a bigger problem. The fact that game pauses in inventory and all you need is to spam eat herbs exit inventory to fight some then enter inventory again.
My guess is that one we get illness and infections the game will become much harder.
Incidentally, I went into a house to light the fire (one of my villagers - they seem incapable of lighting their own fires) and a boar ran in and attacked me. I had no idea the damned thing was even chasing me!
State of Decay 2 had this nonstop and it made it unfun for me to constantly have to take out ferals and juggernauts just to leave my base.
