Can you remove the large boulders and shrubs

Is there any way to remove the large stones or boulders that the pick axe cannot remove and the shrubs that pressing E do not remove. When placing roads these are still there. I have tried the spade but no avail. I am building my village near the river just past the bridge where there is a lot of boulders which I had hopped I could break up with a pick axe. Its a bit of a pain having to walk around these boulders.
If they are permanent structures I guess I will have to move my buildings

no the boulders can't be removed, the bushes though you can often remove by making a stickfire near them.

O K Thank you, As I have just started I may do a restart there is a lovely spot further along where I can farm to my hearts content

I had success removing the boulders etc. by creating a small field over it and then destroying it again, also remove shrubs etc. by placing bathtub or other objects and deleting it.

I thought you could use the pick axe on the bigger boulders? Did they remove that?

The new update on beats test has now solved the problem. When placing roads all obstacles are removed.

On flat terrain there are some "exhausted" boulders which are still counted as obstacles preventing to build a house there. Reading these postings, I tried to put a road over these exhausted boulders but this is also not possible 'because of obstacles'.
What am I doing wrong?

The resource deposits such as mineable rocks and clay pits (anything that gives you a tool prompt) cannot be removed. You just have to work around them.
