Firewood demand.
So I have 22 people in my town and the demand for firewood is 489 a day. 8.6 an hour. I have rock homes that have been upgraded with limestone. It is Autumn. Is this normal?

In management tab its hows 489(8,6), right? That means you have 489 units of wood in your resource storage and your demand is 8,6/h :)

I think you will find that 8.6 is for your whole village, not individuals.

That does seem high. With a population of 30, my winter consumption is 8.2 firewood per hour. And autumn is half that.
Did you upgrade your roofs, or just your walls?

The roof isn't thatch. I went with the middle option for roof. They use hella firewood. So recruited 1 more guy to help with fields and now it is 9 an hour. Come Winter all I do is make firewood. The only thing I am wondering about is I did add more windows when building the houses and only 2 houses are simple/ The rest are small simple.
Just wondering if this bug related post is connected, but it's about Mood, not Firewood.

My peeps are happy campers. The production is super slow and firewood consumption is way to much. I will try maxing out roof upgrade. I just wish I knew what the problem is. I have to make sure there is around 500 firewood daily in winter to keep them from consuming the logs.

Maxed out roof upgrade made no difference.

That's why I want you all to read the bug post. If you do, then yes, it does not.

Wood per Hour x Hours in the Day = Wood per Day

8.6 x 24 = 206.4

Something seems wrong there that you're using 489, 137% more than your per hour value. That's not even accounting for sleeping apparently stopping wood usage during that time.

They used 9 log per hour in Autumn. I was averaging what I thought they were using without doing the math. I did math and they were using 9 an hour. Now it is first day of winter and they are using 18 an hour with 23 people and all upgraded homes. Is this normal??

Winter wood consumption is far higher, so probably.

I have a feeling that you maybe misinterpret something or something is wrong with your houses.

Question:
did you change anything about wood or food in the game settings before you started your game?

Another question:
If you are ok with it, I'd ask you to compress your game save data in an archive, upload it at a filehoster of your choice and give us a link to download it.
I can get it and take a look in your village and see what's going wrong.
This is just an offer, it's up to you.

I can do this. I know where my game save data is and it gives me the option to compress and email but I need instructions on how to compress and save to desktop to upload to a file hoster. Also this won't effect my game save data right?

If you don't have, download winrar and install it.
After that, right click on the folder which contains your save data. From the context menu select to create an archive file in the same folder where the folder holding your safe data is located.
If you're ready with that, just go to a filehoster of your choice (there is several of them in the web). If you don't know any, I could suggest the following:

https://gofile.io/uploadFiles

The link leads you directly to the upload section. Just drag and drop your archive file there or click the upload button, navigate to the folder where your archive is located and start the upload procedure.
There will be kind of an simple animation which indicates when the upload will be finished.
After that you'll see a link which you can post for us to download your archive from gofile.io

That's all. :)

I've noticed that you marked another answer solving your problem and I already guessed the same as Bljek™ did.
But nevertheless, judging by your population I still think the demand of wood is pretty high.
So I still would offer to have a look and see, if I can find something going wrong there or maybe I see something which could help you to lower the demand of wood.
If you're ok with it, that is.
