One of the points of the game is to have villagers self-run your village. The animal buildings are a great place to assign the female who got a child and you had to replace, I usually put those villagers after they finish with their child, in spots like the animal buildings.
Those workers pay for themselves and then some.
This is true but 2 pigs will make a TON of fert, and they can have babies too - you can get rich fast on them. Well worth the investment.
I built my town on my 5 pigs. Honestly pigs are just so much better then every other animal its crazy.
Op it may sound awful to have to put 1 worker on your pigs but in the long run he makes you more money then everyone else in the village combined if you have a market stall and a high level worker.
