Bears and Hibernation
I really appreciate how the devs tried to stay as true to the medieval time period for a game. However shouldn't bears be hibernating in the winter? It should be the reward for playing through the season rather than skipping?

Badgers are out during the day and not only at night but they are nocturnal. Wisent should be in herds. I'm pretty sure zero work was put into the animal systems being realistic.

Yeah. since days and seasons fly by so fast in this game they could've made it more realistic in that part with animals having different day/season cycles.

Bears are super easy to kill once you master the bows/crossbows. Seriously taking them out no problem with two or three iron arrows. Just kill them and be happy for all the meat they just died to give you lol
I think the amount of realism in the game is very satisfying. Some compromises have to be made for game mechanics, so I try not to dwell on those. Being able to complete a quest requiring a bear kill is more important than modelling the hibernation behaviour. They do appear briefly from time to time through the winter as I understand it and its more like a deep sleep than hibernation in reality, A level of simplification is perfectly acceptable.

Appreciate the tips but I don't have an issue killing them even with wood equipment. I was just asking for the sake of realism as the devs have put tons of research into the period for this excellent game.

The point of winter is that all living things are either gone or disappear into their wintering holes. So we should have to rely on preparing properly for the winter time to ensure survival.

That is a fair enough point. +1.

Personally, I believe the bears in the game SHOULD hibernate, the quest to kill a bear notwithstanding. Preferably not in the mines, though!
