Can't make stone spear until I have a smithy?
This seems... odd. The smithy is rather far down the tech tree, but somehow I can't make a stone spear before I'm forging metal?

Without finding a spear anywhere in the world, how am I expected to hunt boar and deer? I know I can kill boar with two wooden spears, but landing a second throw is more luck than skill with how the AI behaves and runs at lightspeed... or I get lucky and they glitch into the ground.

The smithy is the third production building to unlock. If you need longer than 4 or 5 in-game days to unlock, you're wasting a lot of time. Somethink like 150 stone knives should unlock it, and that's if you build nothing else or don't do any quests.

I've built everything I can possibly build, aside from one other building because it says I'm at a building cap. I spend most of my time hunting and gathering... Not really sure how I can spend time much more efficiently. Sitting there and crafting 150 knives in a row isn't really what I think the devs had in mind for progression either...

Then again, you need to be a master of industry to make stone tools in this game. If I can build a new building every few days just to salt some meat, I'm sure I can make a stone spear without forging metal lol.

It took me about 2 ingame years, crafting so many knives seems more like a waste of time, it should come naturally, not be a grind. But when you get the smithy you already most likely have found a small source of copper, so hey copper spears, meaning your stone spears are worthless, unless you make them to sell them.

I agree, I went from wood spears to copper, stone seems pointless since once you have a smithy up it's much better to just go grab some copper and upgrade all your tools that way.
