I did it in about 2 days of game time--go get 3-5 iron axes from the Smithy in Lesnica and clearcut a mountain you don't pass by often (regen in 2 years gametime).

Not telling what happens after, though! :-D

If you don't clear the stump, the tree will regrow, so, that doesn't matter if you clearcut an area. It just take time.

Will the tree regrow faster when it´s a stump? If so, how much faster and is it worth compared to get the additional log and have it regrow in 2 years?

Guess I have to start a game with unlimited weight as with that limit on I don't see anyone carrying 1000 logs, and I guess when you don't have those in your inventory the quest continues without giving you the achievement ;)

Question for those who cut 1000 logs and handed them in: Did the NPC build a wall around the village?

I think you can do it without unlimited weight, if you make several trips and drop the logs in front of him. Then pick them all up within reach and talk to him.
