Marriage black screen bug

Trying to marry someone is resulting in a black screen with the game running in the background but not reacting to any inputs.

After asking the lady to marry, the screen goes black and plays a fanfare audio of what i assume is supposed to be a cutscene wedding? But the screen remains black throughout and afterwards, and the game will not recognize any keyboard inputs. I am forced to close the game via task manager.

Anyone else seen this problem?

Steam on windows but it's being family shared from another account.

Hello there,

we are running into this issue for a short while and working on a fix, but we need some further information so we can maybe see patterns or stuff. For you, I will come up with a few things to do.

1.) We need your PC specifications through something called "dxdiag". Please run a command prompt window and type in dxdiag. A new window will pop up and you can save that file. Please send us this file via www.wetransfer.com and post it in this thread.

2.) Please run a windows service repair -> same command window and type in -> sfc /scannow . This will run a full system check and repairs all the stuff that does not work anymore.

3.) Try reinstalling the game. Yes, this sounds dull, but sometimes it just fixes any issues that might have built up throughout the last few builds. (+ verify your game files after reinstallation)

We will be waiting for your information and do not worry - the dev team is on it. ;)

I appreciate the offered help but that's a lot of hoops to jump through, especially for a game being shared from a different system.

I had the person sharing the game delete the "Wedding.mp4" video and that solved the issue. Marrying someone just skips the cutscene now and the game continues.

i had an issue with black screen during videos for multiple games and it turned out it was using the nvidia control panel to limit my fps for all applications that broke videos. i'm glad removing the video worked for you, but if you encounter this issue again or in another game you might want to check on that (or a similar setting if you have a different brand of gpu).

I haven't seen this issue in other games, but i'll keep this in mind and watch for it.

I posted this in another thread, a bypass for this is:

1. Go to your Steam Folder where the game is installed
2. Go to SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Medieval Dynasty\Medieval_Dynasty\Content\Movies\Cutscenes\Wedding
3. There you will find a File named "Wedding.mp4"
4. Rename "Wedding.mp4" to "1Wedding.mp4" or any other name.

The game now skips playing the video since it cannot find it, and thus, you get instantly married with a short, half second black screen.

It is of course disabling the loading of the Video file, my suspicion is that the game fails to switch aspect ratios or something else, to bind in the video during gameplay, since you can her the music and sounds, but the video doesnt load. The video itself is soundless, so the issue is definitely that the associated Wedding.MP4 doesnt load or load incorrectly.

This way, you can at least play, without a 18 second video clip of becoming married.

Renaming the Video Files worked for me too. Great Thanks to the posters in this thread. Oddly enough the Unigost Video also froze on me, but when I reloaded the save I was past the cut-scene. But the Marriage cut-scene wouldn't load past. Thanks Again!
