Mapping!

Is the map supposed too indicate something apart your location and quests.
I downloaded the free map and I see no difference.
No shops, no name of NPC, nothing...Do you have to write down all of this??
Traveling is enough. Witcher 3 was amazing for that.

Your location, quests, villagers, your different village buildings, traps. You can ask NPCs for vendor locations and to mark animal spawns.

Well, even if I ask an NPC, nothing happens on the map.
The map is only indicating villages and Quest sticker.
Should we have to write all that down on paper??

In the upper right corner of the map you should see the filter options. You can click through these. it shows you buildings, people, trabs, etc. and one of them is for wild animals.

If you are talking about the free dlc map. It's not within the game is a folder in your game directory.
It has print maps and a interactive map in the web.

For the print maps right klick on your game in the steam library and choose "show local files". There should be a folder named "maps DLC" if you installed it.

I have created a Discussion on this matter a few days ago, wich btw I have not replied hoping that progressing more in the story and starting my village would give me the answers but as I saw a post speaking of the same thing here I am.
Btw the OP could have done a search and use that same discussion but ok.
I also can only see the Quest marks and my own buildings. Nothing more shows up in the map.
I understand that wild animals will appear as I purchase the locations from the Hunter but I don]t understand how the map works now. I have asked a lot of times where can I find the vendors of a lot of things and nothing was updated at the map neither.
Previously I could see Symbols of people for inhabitants and bags for vendors but now I dont see any symbols other than the Villages names, the Quests marks and the building I build. The filters are working for the things I can see but compared to the previous game version I have a empty map.
I remember that when I went to any village I could see the brown person symbol all around the place and I am not sure but I think that it would show the name of the person when I hover the mouse over it but now the map only shows the villages like a non interactive layout.
