Good starting location ?

Hello, I'd like to ask if you know of good locations on the map to put down your village. Currently I have settled to the west of the first village (Gostovia), right before the woods (along the road and near the river), but it doesn't feel optimal and I'd like to find a better location to restart before I'm too far along.

Anyone ?

If you follow the road to the west from Gostovia to Denica, there will be a relatively flat open terrain after the intersection.

Pros:
- The scenery is beautiful with a great river and small island.
- Middle Map position, far to nowhere
- Near water for drink and so you can start fishing too later
- Flat open terrain and easy for opening big 16x16 farming field
- Near Reed for torch, roof, etc
- Next to the dense forest for wood, mushroom, and hunting ground.

Cons:
- Distance to starting village is quite a walk. Don't overburdden yourself.
- Must carry wood from forest deep if you want to preserve the tree in your village later.

I started mine on the road right next to starter village. Considering all the back and forth I have to do I don't regret it :P

https://i.imgur.com/6sS2RxX.png i personally like the general area i built in this playthrough, red mark = stone and clay next to each other, plenty of stone in the hills/mountains around.

Lake is obviously a water source, loads of trees around the lake.

Issue early on is reeds basically. Closest i've found is i believe at the little indent in the water east of the island at the end of the stream leading into the lake. Straw is light though so you can grab quite a lot and run it back to put in storage.

You'll have to do a little bit more running as well for quests but overall most resources aren't too far away.

Agreed also the best location for me too so far. Lots of boars and other animals to hunt there too.
I spent lot of time gathering and cutting trees(stacked like 200) around there and basically cleared a big area for further expanding.
I'm about to build my farm field now but I wonder if anyone noticed difference in field output from lets say grassland area and on those rocky patches.

Seems to be a good location, my village is a little further west nearer the bridge.

Im right of Gostovia village(200m) next to river and bridge.
Im kinda isolated from others (social distance? CoVid19???)

Didnt thought about traveling to others villages when I started this game. I had 0 knowledge. That is only con if you ask me. Other than that there is lots of forest and animals just SE of my village(50m).

Nice, Im almost at the same position, just a bit to the right. :). Were are the 2 mines?

I settled down at the mountain lake between the starting Village and Denica, and sadly, can't recommend that location. While it's beautiful, placing the resource storage was an utter nightmare, since it kept telling me that the area is too uneven. Although, that might be the case everywhere where the terrain isn't completely flat due to it's large blueprint...

Hello. This is the location i ended up on my first game play. So far still playing it, exploring etc. May start a new location on next game or change it in current lol.

For @llder, the two mining caves, one is SW of Lesnica. Has 1-3 bears near.
Other one is on the path/trail between Gostovia & Hornica in the mountains area, has 1-3 bears near.
Could be more mining caves, but those are the only two i found so far.

Below the river fork east of Gostovia, along the stream. A beautiful cozy valley with wood, clay and wild animals. Close to the main village, a short walk away the big water and quite far away the mine though.

I built around this lake as well. Just need to travel for reeds, but other than that its a real nice spot. The lake is nice and deep too, so you take your bath in neck deep water, while grabbing your first drink in the morning ;)

Its all pretty flat, just needs some clearing as some spots have dense trees.
