They can't be built there though. Sorry.

But if they add that in then maybe they can in where we can make our own bridges as well. But then people like me will just build our towns in the river and or the lakes just to mess up bandits in the future. So maybe they know what they are doing by not letting us build anywhere other than land afterall.

The Main Problem with that is that you can not Build Palisades so near the water that no one can get around the Palisades trough the water (lake, river etc). I am and my Villagers can walk trough the lake nearby my VIllage and pass the Pallisades.

So i have 2 Options:

1.) See (later) the Bandits or wildlife go around this water Areas and Kill my Villagers
2.) Destroy all my Buildings nearby the Lake and make Palisades bevore the lake

But Option 2 would destroy a lot of Immersion for me, i like it to Build nearby Rivers.

Then that is a logistical choice...

build near river and risk bandits....

or

bring it inland a couple more feet and wrap the village in palisades...

hmmmm

decisions decisions....

Not realy in Real live too exists middle age towns with Lakes/Oceans nearby. The Weakpoint was that this towns was vulnerable to Ships but not to Bandits that walks trough the Beach of Lakes. Thats not a logistical Problem.

And even Rivers middle age Towns build drawbridge over them and set a Gate Problem solved.

So no, this needs a Fix.

Well since there aren't any gates the whole concept just has holes in it anyway.

This is true. Also those towns and villages which had water source nearby were usually most developed because farming was easier, people could catch fish, it was possible travel by boat or ship, wild animals would also live near water etc. Water was also necessary for people to cook cheap food like soups, porridges etc. And don't forget breweries which needed water to produce alcohol or blacksmiths who needed water to forge tools and weapons. There's a reason why water is called as the elixir of life.

As long as its shallow water, sure - why not. Would make placement much easier alongside the river, which annoyed me as well from time to time. Deep water however, nah.

I think they are going to add those later. After all having just palisade around your village doesn't stop animals from attacking. Pack of wolves entered one of my houses when they were chasing me. But making gates isn't that easy. Even if it was they need to make it so that villagers are able to open the gates and also lock them so that animals and bandits can't enter.

Yes, true. One Solution would be that gates open from alone after a true/false check.
Example: Bandits, wolves false, Villagers True, Animals from a Player true.

Another problem i see is to Prevent Villagers and Player animals fromw andering around whyle a Wolve Pack or Bandits attack, so that they get Killed or Open the Doors for them. XD

The true/false check is a good idea... but dont let Animals of any side wild or yours open the doors at all... thing about your animals just sitting at the gate and the gate stays open because your animal refuses to move lol

This. I can already see how one of my gooses walk to the gate and opens it for pack of wolves or for bandits :D Poor goose trying to challenge whole pack alone :D

I found out that the Technology Fence bevore Palisades can with a bit tricky clicks build over rivers.
