How long does it take for a child to grow up?
And by "grow up" I mean useful. I have a 4 year old who's just eating for free and I need to put her ass in the mines!

18 years old before they work and as long as mommy stays pregnant she doesn't work either. So keep that little bit of niceness in mind when you watch your villager count rise through the roof but your worker count drop through the floor.

Telling ya they need to pick berries and mushrooms or freaking sticks by age 5, at age 10 move logs to the storage, 13-17 help catch rabbits and fish.

WTF, 18? Lol I was working mindless labor when I was 14, first real job working catering and janitorial work at 16. Pretty sure a 12 year old can at least shovel and forage.

Yeah how do you keep the women from getting pregnant? And that's a long time to play the game without losing interest. I'm on year 9 right now.

Just learned I can kick kids out of my village just like adults. I have 4 kids taking up valuable space so I kicked out 2 and added 2 more adults.

And 18 years is way to old to be starting to work. In the middle ages kids started working at like age 6. I mean, they should at least be able to cut wood and gather berries at 16.

my baby has been 0 age for 2 years now. Might be a good idea to kick the baby out.

Were their any negative affects to kicking out children? rep loss or parents mood drop?, i just had 4 moms pop out kids the same damn season, ones on her 2nd kid and i cant even make a second kid and mines the oldest child in town

No, I didn't notice any loss of points. I was in a village trying to recruit a new villager. it said I needed 20,000 points. I kicked out a child and then I asked the NPC again and he happily joined. But I have tried it again and it is kicking the entire family out. So I don't know if it has to be the 2nd or 3rd kid. I can't remember who the parents were for the kid I kicked out but they def did not leave.

Well looks like the devs are inserting a little modern day bias her, I was working probably 1/2 day on the family farm by the time I was 5 to 7 during the summers. In medieval times a wife did not get maternity leave from work and the children would start helping in the fields or animal pens as soon as they where able to 5 to 7 year old maybe. They would be married of as full adults by 12 or 13 starting their own families.

"In the peasant household, children provided valuable assistance to the family as early as age five or six. This assistance took the form of simple chores and did not take up a great deal of the child's time. Such chores included fetching water, herding geese, sheep or goats, gathering fruit, nuts, or firewood, walking and watering horses, and fishing. Older children were often enlisted to care for or at least watch over their younger siblings.

Devs should put in the disclaimer
"this is medieval and child protection laws came into place in the 20th Century"
Then limit what they can be assigned ... even if its only fishing/pigs/inn/ something near the village/not far from home ... by 6, then by 12 and then by 18
(noting realistically in the time, adult should be closer to 14) but they (naturally, in this day and age) wanted to avoid marrying a 14 year old and having kids by 15 ...
