Straw/Reed?

Just started the game, talked to the guy in town, started building my house. It's all but finished, all I'm missing is some Straw, which I've figured out I can get by Reeds. But, for some reason, I cannot pick up any Reeds? I've been Googling the issue and the solutions I've found (Restarting/Reloading the game) have not been for this exact issue, and they have not worked. Any ideas? I don't even get a button prompt on them. Only to drink water when looking down.

Do not try to pick the big stalks, there are tiny shrubs of reed between them that you can pick. Hold "E" to harvest them when you can read the name and the prompt. Just like when you harvest the tiny trees for sticks or berries. You should see a circle forming. Once its done you have harvested it.

Are you sure you actually found reeds?
Some generic water plants look alot like it.

Are you sure you are looking at the reeds and not the cattails? Granted, I thought the cattails were it initially, but it is actually around and under them.

If you are looking at the patch at the starting town, the reeds are more on the west side of it.

Straw doesn't look like reed, but is usually right next to them (and called reed too - don't ask). Try moving a bit to the west along the river, you will find straw.

Thanks everyone. It was just me trying to pick the wrong stuff! I thought it was the cattail stuff as well.
