War at this time means you'll lose a lot of your farmers being drafted into a militia/levy and sent away to fight under a real lord, losing your workforce for several months.
There was an answer already from the devs. Search the discussions for more informations. Here is what they said:

Combat is being discussed at the moment, more information will follow.
Edit: Combat is currently under review, if implemented you can possibly fight NPCs like raiders attacking the village. Fighting wildlife/animals is in (as seen in gameplay sneak peek on IGN).
Mass battles, however, probably won't find their way into the game, as they're not planned right now.
Where do you see the "many players" that want war in this game? It's more a wishful thinking of yourself. And you should accept it like a grown man/woman.
