What is your preferred farm size and why?
And how many farms plots do you have?

- I grow flax in the spring (for linen thread to make and sell bows)
- cabbages in summer for pottage
- rye in fall for gruel and straw for hats
- I was growing wheat but since we don't need animal feed at the moment, it's on hold.

That was 3 little 4X4 for me but recently it's not been working anymore. My fields barely get us through the year for rye/gruel (I have 5 workers plus wife, baby and me). Sure I can give them pottage or berries but I like to use rye and prefer to keep my cabbages for making coins as my hunter is a beast and produce so much meat its insane, I always have extra meat.

What do you suggest according to your own experience? Make my fields 6X6 maybe? Bigger? One dedicated to cabbage (spring and summer) + rye, another for flax + rye? Should I get back to growing wheat in a third field because tavern II food is worth some coin?

It depends if you want to make gold or food. If food then cabbage is best option, if gold then flax. I use 5x5 fields

I go for 5x10 as its the most workers can do. And i know you have to watch them or they don't work. But good for them to get exp in farming for when it dose work.
Edit i have 3 5x10 and 3 workers.

I have 8 3x3 farm plots. In the summer I plant onions, cabbages, oats, flax and wheat. In summer Everything but the oats and wheats goes to cabbages. In autumn I plant rye and wheat at a ratio of 5:3. I generally plant everything myself because I don't have time to stand around for hours waiting for my workers to finish.

I use 5x5 fields and have four currently. Cabbage and flax in spring, cabbage again in summer, rye in autumn and carrots in winter. Sometimes I plant wheat and onions to make animal feed and meat with gravy.

Just building Tavern 2 so will see if bread is worth making for flatbreads and might try oats for oat rolls and porridge. I have only just recruited my first villager who is a hunter so I do all the farming myself. It only takes a day each season to plant/harvest so may keep it that way.

Have also built the pig sty for manure but cant afford pigs as yet. See in the latest patch they reduced the price of manure so may not bother with the pigs.

What do you do with the onions, and oat?

My fields tend to be 2x5 with multiple fields. It's easier for me to rotate my crops this way. Flax and Cabbage are my money makers. Carrots for stew to keep the workers fed. Rye and Wheat for flour to bake flatbread. I plant and harvest every season. Spring is usually really busy because I'm harvesting the rye, and planting lots of flax.

I'm using 2x5 just for the fact I like to work/buy in 10's

The onions and wheat I use later on to make onion flatbreads, I don't quite use oats yet, but I like to have a diverse range of food for immersiveness.

I wonder if flatbread is worth it, flour takes a lot of grains is it better profit than pottage? I salted meat yesterday to make the pottage and was disappointed to see that even though I went an extra step mining the salt and salting the meat, the nutrition was not better nor was the selling value.

Flatbread is good for you and the workers, but it isn't profitable at all. I think it gives 50 food.

for profit potage seems to be the easiest you can plant cabbage 2x a year and with a decent hunter in the hunters shed youll get tons of meat. Flax takes alot of it to make thread but the seed sells pretty decent i plant 50 plots of flax then in summer plant 50 plots of cabbage. at start 18-20 plot farm works well untill you are established.

a lot of small 2x2 fields , this way 2 workers actually finish working and not stuck on 1 field
