Lumberjacks are inefficient
I have two lumberjacks, both with decently high gathering skills, and yet my village of 8 people always runs out of wood. What am I doing wrong?

make your workers houses out of stone and better roofs

I feel like 1 woodcutter with skill 5 can handle 4-5 villagers during spring - fall. Lower than 5 I was struggling and had to help him out. Now I have 12? villagers, 2 woodcutters both with skill 6 and I have abundance of logs even during winter.i think the sweet spot is 1 woodcutter with skill 5 per 4 people.

Wait what? How do I choose what material I make things out of?!

Equip hammer, point toward the part to change and click E.

if the walls and roof are already built you will need to destroy them one at a time and rebuild. while they are ghosted white (no mats) look at them with the hammer and hold "E" a radial will pop up and you can choose the options. read the descriptions of the options and choose what you want. brick is best and third roof is best both of those will give the better heat savings and even give a better mood to the NPC's

Your npc's will move out while doing this and slowely loose mood. this is why it is best to do it before they move iin.

Ya I learned my first winter with a few people living at my village you are best off constructing the best quality off the bat it saves in wear and tear and wood consumption. Also not sure if this matters or not but I try to keep the number of windows down some also?

i'm not sure about the windows, I highly doubt they make a difference. I think it would say something in the description if they did.

Just wanna make sure, you're turning logs into firewood right?

Do you have a worker in your ressource storage ? Enough free space in your ressource strorage ?

Apply daub to stone walls for a little bit more insulation.

With building hammer selected choose the upgrade option on the wall to apply.

i have 5 villagers and i am fine with one woodcutter lvl 6. I get more wood as i need. U just need to craft from time to time the logs into firewood (firewood is more effective)

@Babouk100 what does the worker do in the ressource strorage?

I have 4 basic simple houses, 8 workers and im swimming in logs. They're 2 and 5 gathering, if it's winter its probably going faster. You can also manually craft firewood out of logs for more wood. I have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ stone axes in the buildings boxes idk if it does anything.

honestly I found what worked for me was to wait till spring then have a lumber jack as your first villager spring and summer they hardly use wood and a lumber jack with 5 has me swimming in more logs and firewood then my village can use. This also gives a decent stock of firewood for the winter and has the houses broke down I would repair the brkoen walls with stone since once you get someone with decent skill in the excavation shed you have more stone then you will ever have use for.
