Hi everybody,

i wanna gain Farming Technology. My fields are fully automatic by workers. Do I gain Technology that way or do i have to do the farming work myself?

You get tech from yourself doing stuff and your workers, wile skills you only get by doing stuff your self. you can also get tech from side quest rewards. In my game I have 0 farming skill and full tech because I had the clearing trees quest on day one and the missing bucket quest a little later to get me the tech for storage and a barn, after that all my tech came from my workers.

Might I recommend a trick for the farming skills to go up quickly for you. Make a field. Fertilize field, Delete field. Rinse and repeat as much as you can afford to do so. You can skip the fertilize step if you don't have the manure but you miss out on a sizable chunk of experience points doing so. A bit of time spent doing this will help level up your farming so you can move up in levels also to help unlock the tech's in tree sooner as well. Your workers do help some but the amount increased by them is way less than what you add yourself. Game the system where you can while you can.

I have found that simply harvesting the easy stuff like carrots and cabbage makes my farming go quick. I Hoe it up (grub the fields) and follow my workers after they lay down manure (to make ready for seed), let them plant and then I physically harvest to gain the xp with minimal tool usage.

Nice, I like that strategy :)

in case somebody wants to know: letting your npcs do the work will gain YOU farming technology.

Really? Then it goes astronomically slow...

Might I recommend a trick for the farming skills to go up quickly for you. Make a field. Fertilize field, Delete field

that consumme fertilizer.
you can just build a field (16x16), use your hoe on every cell, destroy it, rince and repeat.

I'm pretty sure (but I'll check if you say I'm wrong) you get the same amount of xp by doing the first passage with your hoe, than you do by puting fertilizer and by the second passage of your hoe, so why waste time producing fertiliser ?

and as said by others, quest are a good source of farming xp too.

Great, thanks. I've been running behind my field workers and I've been doing all the things that don't require fertilizer nor seeds. I've leveled up quite a bit that way! :)

I've found farming is the slowest to improve, but you can really ignore it for a while and just let things go automatically to make what you need to gain gold. Do what you can when you can to gain, but it takes time. Now I'm at a point where I can make all the tools, have pigs so I can turn their manure into fertilizer and it is a lot easier to improve it.

Yes, I'm also at a similar place! :)
