You get three arrows. So a couple of 28's and a bit worse and you are golden.
I'm still in the same quest, but people say, they had better success using a Longbow.

Stand on the 20+ meter mark, quicksave and shoot, if you don't make it reload and the second try will be easier because you already shot from that distance. The further away you are the more points you get for a higher % shot.

the longer the distance the bigger the score. Go further away from target and preferably use longbow.

I did it with a longbow quite easily.
The counting of your score works as follows:
The game measures your distance from the target. Let's say you're 15m away. If you score 100%, you get 15 points - 1 point per 1m of distance. If you didn't aim well and you get maybe 78%, you get 11,7 points, which is 78% from 15 points. It's that simple.

Now breath in and think a little moment. If Alwin demands you to be better than 64 points and you have 3 shots to do that, it's 64/3=21,33 points per shot. So you need a minimum distance of 22m and have to score 100% three times in a row and you'll win.

Long story short:
get yourself a longbow and do some training shots. Save the game before accepting Alwin's quest. Shoot at the target a few times and watch, how far your distance is. Once you're at 22m, mark that point (drop some bread there or anything else). Now do a few test shots to learn, where you need to aim at to reach 100%.
Accept the quest, beat Alwin in the shooting contest and ready you are.

Thank you, I will put this in my guide.

I did it with spears. Practice before starting the challenge! Standing 30m away, drop an item where you are standing (important!) then throwing only spears of 66% durability or better, work out your aim point.

When you actually compete, you can use those 33% spears.
I can do with Iron spear only to 62.2

Haha, that's very clever.
I just used my memory to remember the angle of watching the single weed on the river bank to remember my position.

longbow costs 500g, is it worth spending that ammount of coin and doesnt it take dmg on use? meaning several shots and it will break?

It is actually quite simple. You need about 22 meters distance to the target.

Before accepting the quest, test the distance and the correct posture. If necessary, use the buildings in the background as orientation for a 100% hit and as soon as you manage this in the test, remember the posture exactly. Shoot an arrow into the ground at the appropriate distance to find the location immediately.

Ok, where is the shooting target? My quest is bugged, Alvin is sitting in tavern, and doesn't go out. The conversation is where I need to shoot the target, but i don't know where it is.
Can sb. show me on map where the target is located? Maybe I can pass the quest with Alvin sitting in tavern ;)

Even the basic bow endures few tens of shots. Also, you get two longbows from Alwin (but one is needed in a side quest of second year). This (topic's) quest is easily done even with the basic bow if players finish it even with spears. No need for longbow to finish it.

@gawellus Go outside the east gate of the starter town, turn right left (to the river), it should be there, between palisade and river (under normal circumstances).
