How to craft an iron hammer

Maybe I'm a bit dense and I feel everyone knows stuff I don't know, but here goes. My worker wants an iron hammer. I have the smithy no. 1, where you can buy the blueprint for the iron hammer. So far so good. If I interact with the stone oven of smithy no. 1, I can craft exactly nothing. And on the workbench there's only wooden and stone tools. Do I need smithy no. 2 for crafting that hammer? I haven't unlocked it yet. And if so, why can I buy the blueprint with smithy no. 1? Or is it a bug?

Anyone? I have one more day to craft that hammer or it will be another of the many side quests lost :(

You craft it at the anvil. No the crafting bench or forge in the smithy.

You need 4 chunks of iron ore (there is no smelting at the moment) and 1 log to make the hammer on the anvil.
You do need to unlock the hammer blueprint under the technology tab though.

I have not built a smithy yet but I think you answered your own question. I believe you need smithy no 2 for iron tools. For future reference quick save (F5 key) before accepting quests so you can reload if the quest is not achievable at that time.

Sigh. So I wonder why you can buy the blueprint for the iron hammer when you unlock smithy 1, when you can only craft it in smithy 2??? And yes, I always forget to save and reload and keep losing reputation. Another sigh. Thank you all for your help.

You can craft it in smithy 1. You can craft axes, hammers, scythes, arrows and pickaxes from the starter smithy.

There's this stone oven which I can interact with, but it doesn't show anything in the crafting menu except for the X - quit. Do I have to have the iron in my inventory? In other menus they show what you can craft with a red sign that you are missing resources. I'm still lost...

I bought an iron hammer from Teobald so I could finally accomplish one of the side quests.
