Quick gold?
What's the best way to get gold?
So far 90% of my income is from herbs that I pick up on the way to town. Made 4k in a single year doing this but it's a tad tedious. Y'all have any better ways of making gold? Thanks.

Berries on early game, but you need to start selling stew or potage for easiest money once you get the tools. You need 1 hunting lodge with someone that has +5 above hunting for the meat. Then create multiple 10x10 plots for cabbage or carrots, then after harvesting them, cook stew or potage then sell to vendor. Plow and sow on your own so you can get the exp for farming.

There is a farm shed next to the starter village with 5 iron, 5 stone hoes and 5 scythes. Steal them and sell to NPC. Quick 1k gold.

Once you have your village set up you can mass produce stuff to sell, but the economy is slightly broken so most of the time raw ingredients sell for more. It's EA, so best methods will keep changing every time the game gets updated I guess, best to improvise.

herbs. they are the lightest item, are there in every seaon except winter and worth 2 coins each. in 3 days I have harvested over 2000 of them (you can harvest them on your way to other villages, 2 birds one stone)

this means next time I go pay my taxes of 800 ill still walk away with a 3200 coins net gain

Or farm sticks and sell.
1 Stick is 1 gold

Pretty much any method of making money involves grind. Fastest short term is harvesting the reeds outside started village but long term nothing is really optimal atm until everything balances out. Depends if you want to level crafting or farming up as you can focus on doing obj that grind xp as well as make money.

You cant sell stolen items. Wheat is the fastest gold because of how much you can carry. Wheat weighs 0.5, but wheat grain is probably 0.01, 150+ wheat grain only weighs 1.5 something. It is important to keep weight in mind so you dont have to keep going back and forth.

Berries is by far the best during spring/summer. You can get 2-3k per spring/summer doing berries and it doesn't take that much time, 2-3 min per 200 berries. You just have to learn the good berry spots.

The most time effective way to activly make money i found for me is making Iron Arrows. They sell for 7g each and you craft them in stacks of 50.

I think some time has to pass before you can sell a stolen item. Or maybe sell it at another town.

Honestly, year 1 was all about Berries and Stone Knives for me. Berries outperform Herbs in every way for volume and ease of harvest.
Stone Knives outperform Axes because they are half the sticks for just a few less coins...and they weigh alot less.

Once your get your sweatsho....errr Village up and going processed foods like Potage and Soup have replaced that for cash crop, though I am still experimenting with Clothing and waiting to unlock more advanced breads and Iron tools.

Edit: Did I really say 'Knifes'? I speak English, I swear!

Depends on when in the game you are. I like to craft stone knives on the go when running around (restores stamina while crafting, and are very light weight). After I put up a resource shed I am drowning in rocks, so it is also a nice way to get rid of some excess rocks :)
