-By the way I don`t understand "hope no" comments... just don`t play it with friends if you don`t want or don`t have any to play with. But why should you hope that a game mode you don`t want to play should not be integrated to bring others joy? Sounds a little bit selfish ;-)
Because there are about 100,000 of these type games out now that have multiplayer, PvP, and coop. Speaking for myself I would love to finally have a game of this type where all the developers time, effort, and resources are put into a single player PvE game. That's why.
No multiplayer and PvP also keeps out all those toxic players, go look at the New World forums and what a cesspool that is because of PvP. Not every game nowadays has to have multiplayer.
Ok, just give me one example - only one! When there are so many games like this one but with multiplayer - it`s interesting that I know not a single one ^^. Or with other words when you think this is like all the other games out there go and buy them and play them on a private server ;-) .
You bring PVP and toxic communities into the discussion - that`s nothing the people here asked for - just your idea of multiplayer it seems.
The people here asked for multiplayer in general - I think most here would be fine if the hosting player makes all decissions like in single player but you can help your friend gathering ressources, building up stuff and go hunting.
I played and tried a lot of other survival games (normally on private servers to avoid these toxic communities you mentioned) and I really like where the developers set the focus here. It sounds really interesting and I don`t know any other game (neither singleplayer or multiplayer) that is exactly like this one - a non fantasy setting with strong economy aspects and the chance to build up a village in a living world (life is feudal for example sucks on the last point, static and dead world without story or NPC`S...)
They also have singleplayer, so if they're exactly alike, why don't you play them?
Because we both know they're not the same thing, multiplayer or not.
For this version a multiplayer is not planned, BUT we’re considering the option for a later iteration. No promises, although!
