Pokemon Emerald Final on RetroArch

I thought I'd ask here first since I don't have an account on the forums the rom hack is posted, so hopefully someone here has the info I'm looking for.

So, this rom hack (which, for those who don't know, is an enhanced version of vanilla Emerald) seems to have a functional day/night cycle (mostly visual, I think). I know that the author recommends playing it on VisualBoyAdvance, and they even include it fully configured for the rom. But... RetroArch runs the game much better, not to mention it looks just right in fullscreen without any effort at all.

Except, when I launch it on RetroArch, it's dark outside even after I set the in-game clock to the AM.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a fix for this? I know I can remove the overworld day/night cycle entirely and I'll just do that if there's no way around this, but I thought I'd ask if there's a way to make it work on RetroArch before going there.

And for the record, I know I should go straight to the forums where the rom hack is posted but, again, I don't have an account there. Creating an account on a forum I'll use once to ask one question isn't something I'm a fan of, so I'll go that extra mile if no one here can help me out with this.
