Proton does fine until cutscenes, in which case it's an instant crash to desktop. Still working on that.

Despite stating it requires Windows 10, it does work on Windows 8.1. It doesn't work on Windows 7, though.

i can confirm the game does work on Windows 8.1

It does. I'm using W7 and it works just fine.

Interesting, I've seen some people say it crashes on Win7 for them, but good to know it works for some people.

Maybe crashing Win7 needs all (or good set) of VC++ distribution.

No. It will crash for prerendered cutscenes in Proton or Windows 7 due to it using something specific to Windows 8.1+

Examples? Because I've seen a bunch of prerendered cutscenes, including two opening intros, and not a single crash occured.

You are literally the only person on the internet to claim to be on Windows 7 and have this be the case. People even looked into the crash and it involves calling a function that literally does not exist for the OS.

I highly doubt I'm "the only person on the internet", this is an exaggeration.

Hell, if you don't believe me or something, I can literally record a video of me launching the game and going through opening intros, no big deal at all.

It does exist. It's located in different library, but it does exist. It's a known issue among developers since about 2018 (maybe even before 2018). In windows 7 this procedure is kind of experimental. But it should work if developers write correct code.

Don't say "it doesn't exist" just because there is no info about it in "modern" public ms docs. There are many things missing in "modern" public ms docs. Things that actually do exist but in older OSes and especially experimental stuff.

If you search for this procedure in google, you can find a few discussions about different libraries for different Windows.

That's certainly up to you as to whether you want to or not. The bigger help would be if you have anything installed pertaining to the MediaFoundation libraries, since that's what causes the issue. Specifically regarding the associated dll files which house MFCreateDXGIDeviceManager.

You're correct in that I should have been more specific. The function does not appear in the same library in Windows 7, meaning that it doesn't exist in the way it's being called. MFCreateDXGIDeviceManager is in MshtmlMedia.dll on Windows 7, and in the MFPlat.dll on Windows 8 and higher.

Playing on Windows 7 here. I have had the game crash at the title screen when waiting for the intro trailers to appear while idling. I've also had the game crash at the end of Act 1 when the cutscene would appear.

I decided to look up and grab the MshtmlMedia.dll file to see if that would possibly change anything. I am now able to watch the intro trailers and have been able to progress past Act 2.

I'm not sure if this will help anyone else but I can at least say it helped fix my crashing issue for the cutscenes.

Moving MshtmlMedia.dll from Window\System32 to game folder solves crash problems?
Or there was no such file in your Window\System32?

P.S.: I have MshtmlMedia.dll in Window\System32, but i don't have game to test it.

I did not have the dll at all in my system folder. I only put the dll into the game folder itself.
