Should I fuse Izanagi or no?

There is no secret, fuse izanagi for a better persona.

Izanagi is made to be a pretty bad persona so that you fuse him, anything that is related to him story wise doesnt require him on your persona list, so fuse him away.

As a general rule of thumb - you can and should fuse any and all Personas for higher level Personas

Fuse him. You can summon any Persona you got from the Compendium, including him. The more Personas you have, the better. Aim for the max social links Personas (those have to be fused as well), those are the best (for me).

There are no consequences for fusing Izanagi. As Osricen has mentioned any Persona you have ever had can be reacquired later through the Compendium, just make certain to update his listing before he is fused away so you have the most updated version if ever you decide you want him back in the future.

You need to fuse and create new personas all the time. There is no point on hold an earlier persona. The ones with higher level are far better with more useful skills. Also are useful have personas of the same social links because the relations level up faster. For example, you need to have a Magician for Yosuke.

This isn't pokemon where it's often a good idea to keep the starting one throughout the whole game, it's deliberately designed in a manner where you're supposed to regularly fuse new personas with the ones you have throughout, and dump old ones in the process.

You can fuse it or.... keep it until its level 99 with all stats at 99, take a screenshot of it and frame it to show every else your achievement.

Unless you want to do an ABSURD amount of stat grinding through shuffle time, you'd literally be shooting off your leg by keeping him instead of fusing him lol.
