Why I can't get Marie to rank 6?

It say that relationship will deepen... but not

Guide says you need Rise in the party for Rank 6.

I went and boosted marie with the shrine fortune like 4 times in a row just to be sure and it seems that for her 5-6 rank the game forces you to have that hangout at the snack shop regardless of how many s.link points you have acquired before 6th rank. So yeah 2 dates with marie seem to be mandatory for 5 to 6 rank.

Shrine fortune is worthless. Great blessing doesnt even give +2.

Dunno about that. I have skipped a lot of hangouts for other s.links with fortunes. By saying less than 2 you mean great blessing gives 1 point? Then how many does small blessing give? -1 point? Gonna need source for that.

Test it out yourself, its simple to test. I was unable to get +2 points needed even with a great blessing, so I know they dont give much. I cant say I tested just how low the points they give are, tho. I didnt expect small blessings to give much, which is why I went for a moderate one. Its not untill that failed to give 2 points that I tried to test a great blessing. Which still didnt give 2 points.

At no point is it even close as good as just spending another day with said S-link. (which gives +2/+3) Which also makes it way worse then evening visits, since those give 3+3.

You were unable to skip Marie's extra visit with with 4 shrine fortunes, tho? I tested it with Strength and not Marie, so I cant confirm if Marie is the same. In Strength's case it was definately
just a ''you spend time with'' and not mandatory extra visit.

When I get around to leveling Marie I will test it with her, but if you want an answer sooner its better to test yourself~

Shrine use is important if you want to max more social links. Or max them all.

Most of the link increases happen during the day, so day slots are very limited, and if your social link doesn't progress during the day - its better to hang out with someone else who will, and collect more points at night - either hang out with the person who isn't ready to rank up at night, or use the shrine for them.

Also the game tells you when the social link will progress, and excess points do not carry over between levels.

Right, so I did some tests.

[Hanged Man Rank 10]
- 3 points required for Rank up. Confirmed by hanging out with him without Persona (didnt get closer) and with Persona (did get closer)

Blessings used with 3 points left to go:

3x small (no rank up)+ 1 mild (*rank up)
1 mild (no rank up) + 1 great (*rank up)
1x Great (no rank up) + 1x small (no rank up) + 1x small (*rank up)


Assuming there is no RNG involved, then from the above we can assume:

1 Great = 3x Small
1 Mild = 2x Small
Total required to get +3 points for rank up = 5.

That means 5 Small blessings, or a minimum of 2 Blessings (1x Great + 1x Mild)

That means that during the day Blessings are pointless if you can hang out with the person instead, as assuming you have a Persona equiped it will always give more points.

Blessings still have a use on free nights, or free days, however if using small blessings it would take 5 days just to get +3 points. Mild only would still take 3 days. So its only really worth it if you get atleast mild blessings (but preferably great), or if you are playing on NG+ and have too many nights where you do nothing anyway.

If you can instead spend time with the Persona, or hang out with them at night its a better choice then blessings. Dont use blessings unless you have nothing to do anyway, and dont bother with small blessings at all.

Considering how RNG blessings are (first time I tested before It took me a dozen reloads just to get one) I still dont think they are worth it at all if you arent on NG+

Shrines are a trap. Manage your time better and you will be able to get a lot more points.
