Persona stats?
Okay, so I'm totally confused here (sorry, Persona newbie). What are the Persona stats for? My character (Yu) can level, but his Persona can too? What does that mean? Persona's are only used for 'Skills' attacks, right? I've played through the whole epilogue and am in the castle now and paid very careful attention to all the dialogue and tutorials, but am still confused. Took me 5 hours to even get to this point. :)

Your Persona's stats are essentially your stats. When you have a Persona equipped, its weaknesses and strengths as well as stats, are YOUR stats. Your characters level only affects HP, SP and the level of Personas that you can fuse.

Strength-Indicates the effectiveness of persona's physical attacks.
Magic-Indicates the effectiveness of the persona's magic skills.
Endurance-Indicates the effectiveness of the persona's defensive abilities.
Agility-affects a persona's hit and evasion rates.
Luck-Affects the possibillity of the persona performing critical hits and evading attacks.

The higher your level, higher HP/SP and higher persona level you can create.

Character level => Max HP/SP , How many Persona you can carry
Persona level => Unlock more skill , Persona stats use when you use skill
Strength -> Physical skill (HP skill)
Magic -> Magical skill(SP skill)
etc.

Yu's level determines whether you're over or under leveled (damage taken and received is scaled from your Yu's level vs the enemies level) and you can only fuse personas up to your level. This is important because the higher level personas have much better skills.

Aside from the overall level scaling, your personas stats determine how you do in battle. So your persona's LU (luck) determines how likely you are to get a crit, your persona's AG (agility) determines who likely you are to dodge, magic damage is scaled by MA, etc.

Fyi, weapon damage only affects how much damage you do when you attack without a persona, but armor will protect you no matter what. So you should focus on spending your money on armor before weapons

This is exactly what I wanted to know! So if I switch to a weak level 2 Persona mid-game, I'm actually making my character way weaker in the process. Didn't have any idea about that, so thanks for that!

Also thanks for all the other very detailed answers in this thread! :)
