Only respawning consumables as healing - terrible decision
Imagine dying on a boss, using most / all of your healing in that fight, and then have to go grind an entire map again with respawned enemies just to have healing OR wait literally half an hour near a single healing item field to get a reasonable quantity of healing items. Brilliant game design! 10/10.

I have played possibly every souls-like (available on PC, that is) except Nioh and I have never, ever seen a gameplay mechanic more stupid and utterly pointless than this. It seems made to waste people's time and add nothing meaningful to the gameplay whatsoever.

A regular "estus" equivalent recharging at bonfires (or in this case, Sisters) was too hard to make? Damn.

This game could use a lot of QoL changes. Rather than familiarity giving a faster heal just make it so each spot spawns more or has a reduced cooldown for respawning. Maybe even better have multi-reward familiarity that gives you each, more per harvest, reduced respawn cooldown and same heal except faster.

With that said the merchant sells a superior heal for pretty cheap and you get one full heal if you reclaim your shell once. Also if you go back to your death spot and reclaim all your tar it gives a full heal I just found that out by accident five minutes ago. So strategically you could use that in a boss fight as a heal. Not optimal obviously.

Well, you can always buy roasted rats from Vlas. Yum! Unless you're playing virtuous cycle, then it's a no no.

Making it trivial to farm healing items would drastically change the game, no?
They are very low risk to farm. I would rather suggest you work on your tactic with hardening, block and dodge.

Enhanced parry allows you to heal and that's an important mechanic in this game.

Just be a scrub like me and pick Eredrim as your shell, he has so much health that having some rats and shrooms goes a long way or you can use his massive health bar to practice parries. I sure as hell didn't though Harden and I-frame weapon abilities are good substitutes.
