But yes, I also usually move my heroes during production phase and then just click the button twice.
Otherwise you could start the wave with all your gold and materials, check exactly what comes where and then spend your resources accordingly.
There's probably other nasty things you could break without that additional buffer phase as well.
To be fair, if they started with full action points when you bought them instead of none that would go away.
It does feel very much left over from the early demo build which played a bit differently using hero AP in the production phase instead of workers, at this point.
