and needs more attention ! looks like the developer team doesn't give damn about it

I have to politely disagree, it COULD HAVE been a masterpiece, but they decided to ruin it with certain choices, for example the permadeath, I think its cause they were trying for it to be like a roguelike? Roguelikes have become the cancer of gaming at this point.....

If you have a problem with perma deatrh, play on the easiest difficulty. You're given the option to reload a previous file before the death of the character.
Besides, every character in this game works like an extra life.

I think the perma death is exactly what makes this game good. Glad that the devs are making a game the way it should be instead of targeting it to the 2020s kiddo crowd.

Im loving it ! (almost finished ep 1)
So many NEW and innovative gameplay mechanics.
Permanent death is what makes this game way more scary.

Feels very jarring to play this.
The reason fixed camera angles worked in Resi and Silent Hill was due to the tank controls.

Imo, the relative camera direction controls in this game really don't work here...

Here it feels completely off when the character starts moving in another direction after a camera angle shift.

It is the best horror game released in many years.

The permadeath is a tricky one. It 100% made the game WAY more tense, however a lot of the ways you can die feel very unfair. It's really my own downside. I wish they had balanced it better and thought of a creative way to punish people for dying.

It's almost a masterpiece. If dying wasn't sometimes tied to awkward QTE inputs that can be confusing and tricky to perform (at least in the higher difficulties) it would have been better.

Other than that, yeah, it's a fantastic game and one of the best modern horror games. Perma-death is part of the excitement, and it's not really an issue since you can't be locked out of beating the game because if everyone dies you just restart the current chapter.

I also believe the game is an ABSOLUTE masterpiece.

Well that doesn't mean perfect. It means it does perfectly what it aims to do.

Most of our old school horror games like Silent Hill Resident Evil, and so on were over time dumbed down removing the slow burning aspect and puzzle solving exploration for the sake of more action. More pew pew, and yes far more QTE than this game has. This game does the exact opposite and it' is so welcome in my book. It removes the action part and gives me back those long time lost puzzle solving, gradual exploration of unlocked areas, and.... they even added random threats and tons and tons of random horror effects. The game is simply really cool.

now about QTE. it's a matter of taste.
about the clunky controls. Yeah that could be better.
Character movement is also a bit stiff, facial animation is a joke.

Perma death? I think it's totally awesome! I'm thankful for that too. A gorgeous idea. I didn't even knew about difficulty levels until I heard others talking about these and I didn't pay attention to the game settings. so I was playing through so far on teh equivalent of hard which was set as default and I find it perfectly balanced experience. I wouldn't change that now,

But the game does best what it aimed to do. And I'm very thankful for that. The developers are true fan of old school horror games.

It's not that they were trying for a roguelike, it's obvious to me they were trying to channel something like the Call of Cthulhu TTRPG where lethality is a constant threat and characters are disposable.

The problem is just how opaque some instadeaths are and how everything revolves around button mashing. The game doesn't strike a good balance for the deaths.

You don't have to experience permadeath so that wasn't my issue with it. It just felt like they tried to drag it out with those mirror, hiding and door slam scenes. I could have understood once for each scenario but it took away from the story for me after a while because I kept anticipating the jump scares

Yeah,it's my GOTY, loved it so much will replay it someday
I agree, i finished the 2. Episode and its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome. I think the Permadeath Thing is for the feeling you are in a Story like in Horrormovies and you if the Char is death, he is meaningless for the Rest. I dont know how to say it sry ^^ its all logic, thats what i love and this tight and deep Lore are so creepy and full of Details. Its awesome, i hope the Devs next Game will be like this, maybe a Part 2 of SoH. :blueeye::blueeye: :VLOVEIT: :VLOVEIT:

game over all is pretty fun but the way they kill you gets to be pretty lame. Like for example one time the game is like hey wanna check this pretty obvious AF death trap? No? oh well that was a required item that saves you later in the game lol ♥♥♥♥ you. Listened to this door and heard nothing? hahah just kidding this mechanic is disabled for this one door and if you open it you auto die.

A masterpiece indeed. And a VERY underrated game.

And yes, I like his permadeath system. Without it, QTEs, choices and multiple character system would have less impact. And there is a easy mode for anyone who dislikes it, so there is no problem with it. Normal mode is supossed to give the intended experience by the developer. They told us about permadeath before game was complete. No strange suprises. So it's only about accept their offer or not, it's not a flaw.

And hey, I don't think it's a perfect game (no game is perfect). But the game promised several features, it acomplished them. These served their purpose.

And it wanted to be a homage of classic survival horror and being it's own thing at the same time.
