Path to Glory/ Arwin Merton stuck with exclamation point

The night my party chooses which Bed to Sleep in, I choose to sleep at the palace. I fight the ambush. It's still late at night. I go to the Legacy Council and they take my crown. I leave the Council, and run into Arwin Merton who joins my party.

Now he has an exclamation point stuck over his head, and I cannot run the dialog to start Temple of the Lost God.

I did work around by going back to a prior save, and before talking to Legacy Council, I slept in the Graveyard Inn, then spoke to Arwin, then spoke to the Legacy Council.

This is an unfortunate bug to get. The trigger to start that conversation is in the tavern, so if you go back there together and stand in front of the bartender, that will trigger the subquest to continue. But it's very nonsensical because parts of that subquest clash with the ongoing main quest mission. You basically go thru that dialog, rest once more, and then the game forces you to continue with the main quest even though you say you're setting out for that temple. I was lucky enough to find the trigger so I could keep my save going.

So, I grabbed the quest after the night in the palace and the attack.. Are you saying to get the quest BEFORE you go get ambushed?

Or are you saying that you can retrigger the quest AFTER the Council strips you of the crown by going and standing in front of the Bartender?

Any solutions? Just like @nh_wynter I tried before the attack and the quest still bugged
Is there a way to bypass Arwin's talk to start the mission?

Still no fix, he's in my party with an excla over his head and no way to talk to him.

Glad the developer noted it though.

Encountered the same bug.Solved by talking to Merton before u even dare to speak to the concil after entering the city.You can not talk to the council either after accepting Merton's Mission or any other remaining Mission from the Board, because it will fail them.So whatever Missions u have remaining, you have to do them all before continuing the Path to Glory.
