"Doomblade Rapier" = useless?
after crafting this item, ti seems...useless?

you get NO bonus to hit or damage
it SOMETIMES seems to give a 1 hp blood loss or some such effect
is that it?!
garbage! :P

Don't worry too much about crafting for now I'd say^^'

To add insult to injury, I think the Doom Gem is worth more before you use it to craft the rapier, so really you're better off just selling the components.

I guess vendors don't appreciate your artisanry.

It would be nice to have a better introduction to crafting magic items for sure.

Well I haven't gotten to use the Doomblade Rapier that much, but the Doomblade Greatsword is giving about 1d6 additional damage per tick.

Doomblade Greatword is worth the effort, the only thing that might beat it is the Magical Greatsword that adds 1d Radiant damage.

The devs really need to tell you what these items actually do. Like give each weapon an actual description of its effects, such as: a doomblade weapon deals 1d4 extra bleed damage per hit.

I'm sure they'll get around to this eventually, keep in mind this is EA so a lot of stuff is not finished. To take this one step further, they should add this information BEFORE its crafted. since gems like the doom gem is in very limited supply and reloading a saved game just to see the stats would be an insult to players.

Does it actually do an extra 1d4? thats not bad at all.

I have no idea, actually. My rogue (the character that actually has the rapier) almost exclusively uses her +1 bow.

It seems to be a bleed that applies on subsequent hits from any attack, or at least any weapon; I *think* I remember seeing it do more than 4 so I believe it's a d6 (on the rapier).

Or at-least when you get a hit let you know what all is happening.,,,IE bleeding or something else.

It sounds like a Sword of Wounding where the "wound" is a DoT (damage over time) effect.

"Once per turn, when you hit a creature with an Attack using this Magic Weapon, you can wound the target. At the start of each of the wounded creature’s turns, it takes 1d4 necrotic damage for each time you’ve wounded it, and it can then make a DC 15 Constitution saving throw, Ending the Effect of all such wounds on itself on a success. Alternatively, the wounded creature, or a creature within 5 feet of it, can use an action to make a DC 15 Wisdom (Medicine) check, Ending the Effect of such wounds on it on a success."

actually it is almost useless :(

#1 most enemies do not last long enough for such an effect to do much

#2 actually HITTING an enemy is far FAR more important than a measly bit of bonus damage
+1 to hit is of vastly more use, than +1d4 damage when you might miss and it never apply

basic point across all AD&D form 1st ed is that your to hit bonus in most but not all cases is a better bet than say, fire damage...except of course fighting a troll! ;)

a miss is a miss and thus useless, be it with a vorpal sword or a .50 cal machine gun
(misses only count with horseshoes hand grenades and Fireballs, lol)

So this weapon is garbage far as I am concerned :(
it NEEDS +1hit/damage as any enchanted weapon should, then the bleed effect
Only use might be on a very unusual enemy

:)

Agreed, I crafted the doomblade greatsword for my Paladin and asked the same question, what does it do? My +1 longsword has a better to hit score so I'v stuck with that.

Did anyone read the passage about this being early access? I know, sarcasm does not translate well but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoy this game. I also developed the doom rapier and ... well, it turned out to be a nothing burger. That being said, the game play was impeccable for (wait for it) 'Early Access'. 'Nuff said?

I get that, no one is questioning the game enjoyability, the poster (and me) both just wanted to know what Doomblade does in the context of this game, at the moment.
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Early Access is no excuse. I appreciate you all discussing this topic myself.
