This is NOT how roguelikes work AT ALL!
Can you name ONE successful roguelike, where the things you unlock make the game WORSE???
Also this isn't endless. Once again, false advertising. Can't believe the devs lied to us AGAIN, and AGAIN all the little kids are cheering because YAY! Now they have Act 1 light, without all those pesky upgrades and all that annoying fun!
I can't remember a single person asking for "Act 1, but without 50% of the features"...
It would be SO EASY to AT LEAST put everything from act 1 in there, as unlockables. But why work, when you can instead just take something that already exists, butcher it, and then sell it again?
Totally get it's not your type og game but most of us actually enjoy it k thx
Sure it needs some balancing cuz I find it nearly impossible to complete but yeah
But it will be nice to have more bosses, like woodcarver and the mushroom guy.
What i don't like is the moon fight. it's just a silly carpet that deals one damage to all creatures. If you're able to reach the moon, that means that you have some pretty heavy hitters able to take it down in a couple of turns.
Dead cells. It gets worse each time you bet a boss.
Well, kind of Dark souls, you willingly have to toughen up the game permanently to progress.
Just.. Idk. Go for hearthstone?
The endless mode is in 0.20 supposedly, which means the dev may hear us out and get feedback, if I recall there's also lore inside of that stuff so POSSIBLY, there will be more content for it.
REALLY? OH NO! We can't have THAT now, can we? That would make this an actual roguelike, and if the devs did that, the game might actually not be a scam / false advertising anymore!
Ok, so you CAN'T name a successful game that does that... Because THAT is exactly why i didn't get dead cells. Saw someone play it. First run fun, second run less fun, third run even less fun... yeah, no thanks.
No, i paid 20 bucks for the game and didn't get anything for my money except the complete pile of garbage that is act 2 and 3.
Act 1 was free, months ago, but only to help their false advertisement.
Ok what the ♥♥♥♥ do you mean with "sell it again" then? This thread is about the update
Devs know exactly what they are doing. Take a part of the game, butcher it, call it something new, bam, more sales!
Just because a minority of you folks don't like what was given, and projecting your salty opinions on every post doesn't really do much
You gotta understand not everyone bought the game for the same reasons as you, and considering the steam ratings most people got what they wanted
It's only 20 buckeroos, take it as a lesson to wait and see what it actually is before you buy it next time, seeing as though surprises aren't exactly your favorite thing in the world
Dead cells
Rain World
Revita
Nuclear Throne
Dead Estate
Phantom Rose
need more?
Hollow Knight.
Binding of Isaac
Bumbo Wants Coin
Crypt of the Necrodancer.
all these exmaples have progression behind hard as nails challenges, and the unlocks are generally TEN TIMES WORSE than normal gameplay.
COTN has a character that dies in one hit, cant change weps, doubles the game speed, you cannot pick up gold, you die if you miss a beat AND double the notes. that's your reward for being GOOD.
all of the others have progression based unlocks that force you to play a very unfun game.
Dead cells is first in the list, bc i mena- let's face it, those boss cells don't collect themselves.
a few games mimic the boss cells approach ( hollow knight, revita ) others issues you unlocks that force you to play a harder game to " actually beat it " liek Dead estate. or Spirits Abyss. ( a game I just added ot the list of roguelikes that get worse as you beat them )
I don't want to sound elitist, but you all realize that the base game was NOT made to be a good roguelike. The gameplay in act 1 was meant to be so full of easy gamebreaks to give you short term excitement, and to tell a story. The ouroboros is great evidence of this, as is the death card system. The dev's seem to WANT to try and maybe turn the game into an actual roguelike, but so many things need to be removed to do that.
XD my bad, sorry
