Not starting
i had a bunch of mods, game was lagging a lot, i uninstalled them by deleting the r6, engine, bin, archive and mods folder from the game directory. After that i verified the integrity of the files, installed all of the missing ones again, started the game and it crashed at the intro. Today i uninstalled and installed the game again and same thing is still happening, how do i fix this?

Program files only mean so much, it's the configuration you need to target, that's possibly corrupted somewhere.

Try going to "%localappdata%\CD Projekt Red" and move "Cyberpunk 2077" out of the way, I'd suggest renaming that folder to something else so that you keep a backup.

Also, when you say intro you meant the game itself, not the launcher, right? Otherwise you may want to verify "launcher-configuration.json" in the games program folder, optionally also moving this out of the way by renaming.

Re-installing stuff is nearly always useless because it doesn't reset the configuration, and config files are pretty much always the real culprit.

I went to "%localappdata%\CD Projekt Red" And moved the "Cyberpunk 2077" to my desktop, only difference was that the launcher didn't start now but the game still crashed anyways, forgot to add this but the game crashes when i try to skip the intro or just wait it out until some point.

Try checking out your Steam steamapps\common folder, in there you'll find "Cyberpunk 2077" in which you'll find "launcher-configuration.json".

Try moving that out of the way, then fire up the whole game again.

the game just refuses to start now, should i check the integrity of the files or place the "Cyberpunk 2077" Folder from %localappdata% in its place again?

Game or launcher? Re-check local files, because something is way off here. I just checked regedit and can't find any sign of stuff there, so the only config options seem to be locally stored. Know what... I'm going to get back to you in 5 minutes, lemme try something on my end.

Back.

Mods: Apologies for a double post but I figured this was better wrt clearness than editing my previous post. I actually think before posting, and double posts are usually kinda rude IMO.

@op: I just confirmed that "%localappdata%\CD Projekt Red" has 0 influence on starting the game. I conclude as much from the fact that when I move this folder away the game starts and said folder isn't immediately re-created. I'm now in the "Press space to continue" screen.

<presses space> and now it's there.

Launcher or game? That's a very important distinction.

In the mean time I also found: "Steam\steamapps\common\Cyberpunk 2077\r6\config". This isn't casually used going by the date stamps but since we're talking modding (note: I have 0 experience with that so far) I can well imagine this to be used as well.

  • First re-create your semi-stable setup. Move everything back in place. (edit): AND CHECK! make sure.
  • Then: move the r6 folder out of the way (rename it), and re-check local files using the Steam client. (see the Cyberpunk program folder for that, see path above).
  • Make sure to start the game using the Steam client, it sounds trivial but it can make a huge difference based on the game launcher being used.

Hope this can help!

I have like 90 mods and don't have any problems... is it giving a crash report? if so link it because it is most likely incompatible mods conflicting each other

Re-checked the local files, it downloaded 2 files worth about 2mb, loaded up the game again, and it crashed on the intro.

same thing, forgot to mention but when the intro starts, on the lower right corner it says:
"[NONE] [NONE] press to continue"

decent glad it works now, I had a similar problem and checking my mods helped, everytime I did a file check through steam it would say missing some files, download them but fix absolutely nothing, maybe that function doesn't work great on cyberpunk

did you by any chance have the flying cars mod installed? that one requires a 3rd party bat file that they provide to fully uninstall it or else it'll ctd.
