Very confusing Clothes and Wardrobe system.
In the 2.0 update the devs said the clothes no longer have armor and is cosmatics. However all of them have weight value so there are consequences of you carrying ever clothes you come across.

The wardrobe system seem to have down-graded. As I recall, the wardrobe saved every clothes do had, even the one you sold or dropped. This enabled you to dress-up more freely. Now, you need to have the clothes in the inventory if you want it to be on the wardrobe

Nope. I disassemble every single piece of clothing I find, except four pieces (at a time) that provide some kind of a bonus -- and every single piece, apart from outfits, I've ever found is always available in the wardrobe.

Something is wrong with your game. Probably either a mod (or remnants of one), or you're using a pre-2.0 save and it's causing issues.

I too dismantle all my clothes and have a huge selection in my wardrobe. Works like a charm (2.01, GOG)

Hmmm, there's a good point. I use the wardrobe system anyway so what's the point of me wearing anything other than the gear that provides benefits? I'm a silly one.

Just check each clothing item as you get it.
Certain gear has very minor buffs.
There are a couple of armour vests that start with a +5 to armour when white quality. That goes up by 5 points (I think, I've only had white, green and blue quality so far in items) as the quality increases.

Its not much, but these small boosts may make a difference (more, depending on difficulty level maybe?)
And you only get them if you equip them properly (ie, wear them in the proper equipment slots, rather than LOOK like you wear them with the wardrobe's transmog system)

Are you running the game without mods right now?
Did you used to have any mods before you updated/reinstalled?
If so, might want to clean the dust out with Cyberclean
https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/8595
Its a bat file that will clear fragments of left behind code from mods. You want the 'cybernuke' version probably, if you are no longer using mods, or plan to in future.

The clothes weigh literally less than a pound........
And yes, you don't need to even keep them.
I do and keep extras in my trunk if I want to change for extra immersionssssss

Alright, I have a pre-2.0 save. My clothes are gone. What do I do?
Silverbane7 Feb 26, 2024 @ 2:28am
Your clothing from your inventory/stash have gone?
Your saved clothing styles in the wardrobe are gone?
Or the clothing you had equipped on your character are gone?

Only players who use the Equipment EX system (mod) need to keep clothing to use its looks now, by the way.
(I do, so my stash is full of stuff XD)

If you used mod clothing (the old TweekXL/ArchiveXL combo for new items) and had any of those equipped in the previous save (or stashed) and then upgraded to 2.0+ that might explain why clothing in your stash or equipped might vanish.

thx for ignoring my question. No I'm not modding my game.

All my saved clothing styles are gone. Most of my clothing from my inventory/stash is gone. Even some of the clothing I had equipped on my character is gone.

This happened on PS5 too, btw.

Wasn't ignoring, I asked which items were missing.
(Added mod info in case)

So, the save was pre 2.0+ patch, it makes sense, kind of.
When they took away the mod slots, the buffs and armour points, they changed the clothing .
That's possibly the reason the clothes disappeared.
I've never tried to use a 1.61 (last saves I have from before) save file to see if clothing vanished, but it would kinda make sense.
After all, they also removed the crafted clothing items, tho part of their code is still in the game.

So its possible that your old saved styles, stashed clothes and equipped gear vanished due to the changed data on clothing.
Players who had items that were altered lost them too, before 2.0+.
When they changed the amount of slots on items, and when they removed the ability to re-roll the amount of them, folks lost stuff.
That wasn't as drastic tho, it still caused a lot of angry posts here, and missing gear too, iirc.

what do you do? You get new clothes.

those clothes don't exist anymore, so they're gone. if you want them, play in legacy mode, clothes don't matter now, you don't keep them, there's barely any with stats boosts on them and armor is boosted by chrome alone. It's a different game, choom. If you had unlocked uniques, you should have those, but the rest got recycled.

you always "have" any clothes you get, as aesthetic choices even though they don't exist. Once you pick something up, scrap or sell it, unless you truly want to wear it. It's a much better system, so you don't have to page through 26 pages of crap clothes to keep for an outfit, you see them on your wardrobe design screen though, and you'll only have one of each, cause again, all but a handful don't have stats.

how is this confusing? or is it that you knew you had clothes before and now you don't? If that's it, yeah that's what you're dealing with.

1.x saves in 2.x games is just about progression and missions mostly. clothes different, weapons different, chrome different, skills different. Again, it's a different game.

If it really bothers you, start fresh! Then it'll seem natural.

Turns out loading the pre-2.0 save + mods have disabled the wordrobe function and I mistook that as a bug, or a intented function.
Playing the new game in vanilla have solved the issue completely. However I could not get or buy any Mox themed clothing A.K.A skimpy clothes. Any idea where to get them?

Glad your problem is solved. As for finding Mox clothing...it seems to me that you can find a lot in the clothing shop in Arroyo [the Manufactory] right by the Beat on the Brat location with Buck, and the Tiger Claw open air vendor on the overpass in Little China.
