silencer, worth it?
hi,

is it worth to use silencer on weapons? crit is nice but 30% base dmg less looks like serious downside

It provides juicy bonus to stealth damage, plus there are some perks in stealth tree that improve damage with silenced damage.
Problem i kinda have is, that very very often, enemies are clustered near each other making stealth kills impossible (or at least stealth killing spree - you can IK one foe with silenced weapon but others will see you and good bye stealth bonuses).
I would reccomend to have one weapon with silencer - some with high damage (not DPS! you need first shot to IK enemy, so slow fire rate and high damage is the best - i found autoaim sniper that is silenced by default, has pathetic 50 DPS but deals 250 dmg per hit and then reloads after one shot... headshot stealth, thousands of damage, crit for like 10k and i am at level 10 :D ).
Once you are revealed, just switch to other weapon. All in all, stealh and stealth build is kinda good but as i said, not much opportunities to really silently kill whole areas.
Btw: Best weapons with highest damage are some pistols, revolvers (they cant have silences i am afraid), snipers (also havent found any that could have silencer), shotguns (also no silencer).
Mounting silencer on SMG/assault rifles is possible, but they have realy weak attacks so it wont make sense. So yea... pistols and snipers :D

You get get higher rarity silencers that have a greatly reduced penalty. e.g. Blue rarity only has a 15% reduction in damage.

What is the point in attaching the silencer to a weapon, if you cannot remove it?
When you rise in levels, the weapons dropped by dead foes are getting better.
But you are still stuck with the old weapon, because it is the one with the rare silencer.

I have the problem with a nice scope on a handgun, but I don't know how to remove it.
(If it is even possible?)

Some revolvers can have silencers, just not the ultra damage tech one. The Overture can mount it for example, and have pretty solid damage.

Worth keeping in mind that while nearby enemies might notice you, not only it's only if they are actually in line of sight (kill the one in the back first, they won't hear the shots, in 2077 silencers are magic), but also you generally have a couple seconds before they actually fully notice you. Time enough to get another kill or two, specially if you have the synaptic accelerator.

Otherwise, yeah, as you said, you want high damage but rate of fire doesn't really matter.

And for the original question of the thread: You planning on stealthing? If so, yeah, silencers are worth it. No? Then no.

yes bledsin1 you can remove scopes and supressors. you just cant remove mods the ones that look like chips. i think its the middle mouse button to remove them

Thank you, GEARJAMMERSSON, this was very helpful (middle mouse button).
Now knowing that, I suddenly can see, it is actually explained in the game (right bottom corner) when you are hovering the mouse over the attached scope.

Just starting out but I'd say a hardy no on the silencers. I thought it'd be cool to run a little silenced UMP looking SMG. IDK how good it was before, but after slapping on the silencer it was just a squirt gun. Agree with second poster, it may be worth it to put one on a high damage sniper. When room clearing, I'm not noticing any functional difference in how the stealth plays w/ silencer on/off.

Honestly, the starting knife is the only weapon I've had so far that FEELs about right. Anyone I stab 3-6 times is dead.

The sights on the Unity are way too high, the assault rifles do like no damage.
My chief complaints about the game right now are that the AI is terrible, the enemies are spoungey and it already feels grindy and I've played it for a day.
